SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT DRIVER SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT


    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    2. When the driver seat belt is not fastened, check that the seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly blinks.

    3. When the driver seat belt is fastened, check that the seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly is off.

  2. INSPECT FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT


    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    2. When the front passenger seat belt is not fastened with the front passenger seat occupied and driver seat belt fastened, check that the seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly blinks.

    3. When the front passenger seat belt is fastened with the front passenger seat occupied and driver seat belt fastened, check that the seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly is off.

  3. INSPECT REAR SEAT BELT WARNING (w/ Rear Seat Belt Warning)


    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    2. Open and then close either rear door, and check that the rear seat belt warning light on the combination switch assembly is illuminated.

    3. When a rear seat belt is fastened or unfastened, check that the rear seat belt warning light on the combination switch assembly changes to inform the driver of the current condition of the rear seat belts.

  4. INSPECT SEAT BELT WARNING BUZZER

    1. Lift up the vehicle using a swing arm type lift Click here.

    2. Turn the power switch on (READY).

    3. Place a weight of 20 kg (44.0 lb) on the front passenger seat.

      Note

      Place the weight on the seat cushion and do not allow it to come into contact with the seatback.

    4. Open and close a rear door and fasten a rear seat belt.*2

    5. When the vehicle is driven at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph) or more while the driver, front passenger or rear seat belt* that was fastened at the previous step is unfastened, check that the buzzer in the combination meter assembly sounds at an interval of 1.2 seconds for 9.6*1 or 30*2 seconds. After that, the buzzer sounds at an interval of 0.4 seconds for 20*1 or 90*2 seconds. After that, check that the buzzer stops.

    6. Check that the buzzer stops 29.6 seconds*1 or 2 minutes*2 after the buzzer starts sounding.

    7. Open and close a rear door and start the hybrid vehicle control system again. Then, fasten a rear seat belt.*2

    8. After the buzzer has stopped, turn the power switch off and then start the hybrid control system again. Drive the vehicle at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph) or more while the driver, front passenger or rear seat belt*2 that was fastened at the previous step is unfastened, and then check that the buzzer sounds again.

    9. After the buzzer has stopped, fasten the driver, front passenger and rear seat belts*2. Drive the vehicle at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph) or more and unfasten the driver, front passenger or rear seat belt*2, and then check that the buzzer sounds again.

    10. After the buzzer has stopped, move the shift lever to R, and then move it to D. Drive the vehicle at approximately 20 km/h (12 mph) or more, and then check that the buzzer sounds again.
