SPIRAL CABLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Visually check for defects with the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly removed from the vehicle.


      1. The defects are as follows:


        • Scratches on the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly

        • Small cracks on the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly

        • Dents on the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly

        • Chips on the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly

        • Cracks or other damage to the connector

          OK
          No defects are found.

        Tech Tips

        If any of the defects is found, replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with a new one.

    2. Check the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.

      1. Set the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly to the center position.

      2. Measure the resistance between each terminal of the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly according to the table below.

        H30-10 (+DP) - z4-2 Always Below 1 Ω
        H30-11 (-DP) - z4-3 Always Below 1 Ω

      3. After setting the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly to the center position, rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly 2.5 times clockwise, and measure the resistance as shown in the table below. Then rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly 5 times counterclockwise, and measure the resistance as shown in the table below.

      4. After setting the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly to the center position, rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly 2.5 times clockwise. Then while rotating the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly 5 times counterclockwise, measure the resistance as shown in the table below.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.

        Note

        As the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly may break, do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly more than the specified amount.
