DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM FAIL-SAFE CHART

  1. Tech Tips

If any of the following auto cancel conditions are detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is controlling vehicle speed, the system clears the stored vehicle speed and cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system.

    Automatic Cancel Control

    Constant Speed Control Mode:
Auto Cancel Condition Warning Fail-safe Deactivation Condition
Multi-information Display Master Warning Light Warning Buzzer
Open or short in stop light switch circuit Cruise Control Malfunction Visit Your Dealer Illuminates Sounds Dynamic radar cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control main switch (ON/OFF button).

    • Problem with stop light switch input circuit

    • Problem with cruise control main switch cancel circuit

    • Malfunction in the electronically controlled brake system

    • Communication stop between skid control ECU (brake booster with master cylinder assembly) and power management control ECU

Cruise Control Malfunction Visit Your Dealer Illuminates Sounds Power switch is turned off and back to on (IG) again.

If the following condition occurs, the power management control ECU cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system (stored vehicle speed is maintained):

    • Vehicle speed is less than approximately 40 km/h (25 mph) while driving with the dynamic radar cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

    - Does not illuminate - Cruise control main switch is pushed to +RES.
Malfunction in hybrid control system - Illuminates - Dynamic radar cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control main switch (ON/OFF button).
Vehicle speed is less than stored vehicle speed by approximately 16 km/h (10 mph) or more - Does not illuminate - Cruise control main switch is pushed to -SET.

    • Electronically controlled brake system operates while driving with dynamic radar cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

    • TRC system operates for a certain period of time while driving with dynamic radar cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

    • TRC is turned off

    - Does not illuminate - Cruise control main switch is pushed to +RES.
    Vehicle-to-vehicle Distance Control Mode:
Auto Cancel Condition Warning Fail-safe Deactivation Condition
Multi-information Display Master Warning Light Warning Buzzer
Open or short in stop light switch circuit Cruise Control Malfunction Visit Your Dealer Illuminates Sounds Dynamic radar cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control main switch (ON/OFF button).
Malfunction in hybrid control system - Illuminates - Dynamic radar cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control main switch (ON/OFF button).

If either of the following conditions occurs, the power management control ECU cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system (stored vehicle speed is maintained):

    • Vehicle speed is less than approximately 40 km/h (25 mph) while driving with the dynamic radar cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

    - Does not illuminate Sounds twice Cruise control main switch is pushed to +RES.

    • Malfunction in the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly

    • Beam axis of millimeter wave radar sensor assembly misaligned

    • Problem with stop light switch input circuit

    • Problem with cruise control main switch cancel circuit

Cruise Control Malfunction Visit Your Dealer Illuminates Sounds Power switch is turned off and back to on (IG) again.

If the following condition occurs, the power management control ECU cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system (stored vehicle speed is maintained):

    • Millimeter wave radar sensor assembly becomes dirty

Radar Cruise Control Unavailable Clean Sensor Illuminates Sounds The condition returns to normal (the resume function can be operated after fail-safe is deactivated).

If any of the conditions listed below occurs, the power management control ECU cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system (stored vehicle speed is maintained):

    • Millimeter wave radar sensor assembly sensitivity reduced because of bad weather such as rain, fog, snow, or sandstorm

    • Brake control by the dynamic radar cruise control system is temporarily unavailable

    • The beam axis of the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly is being aligned

    • The forward recognition camera is temporarily unavailable

    • A system check is being performed after the engine has started

Radar Cruise Control Unavailable Illuminates Sounds The conditions return to normal (the resume function can be operated after fail-safe is deactivated).

    • Electronically controlled brake system operates while driving with cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

    • TRC system operates for a certain period of time while driving with cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

    • TRC is turned off

    - Does not illuminate - Cruise control main switch is pushed to +RES.
