COOLING FAN MOTOR ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT COOLING FAN MOTOR

      *B with Inner Mounted Type Horns

      There are 2 types of cooling fan motors. Identify the type of the cooling fan motor according to the position of the horns.

    2. Disconnect the cooling fan motor connector.

      Component without harness connected

      (Cooling Fan Motor)

      Check that the cooling fan motor operates smoothly when the auxiliary battery is connected to the cooling fan motor connector.

    4. Measure the current while the cooling fan motor is operating.

      Standard Current
      Item Condition Specified Condition

      Cooling fan motor

      (with Outer Mounted Type Horns)

      		 Auxiliary battery voltage applied at 20°C (68°F) 7.4 to 11.4 A

      Cooling fan motor

      (with Inner Mounted Type Horns)

      		 7.4 to 10.9 A

      If the result is not as specified, replace the cooling fan motor.

    5. Connect the cooling fan motor connector.

  2. INSPECT NO. 2 COOLING FAN MOTOR

      There are 2 types of No. 2 cooling fan motors. Identify the type of the No. 2 cooling fan motor according to the position of the horns.

    2. Disconnect the No. 2 cooling fan motor connector.

      Check that the No. 2 cooling fan motor operates smoothly when the auxiliary battery is connected to the No. 2 cooling fan motor connector.

    4. Measure the current while the No. 2 cooling fan motor is operating.

      No. 2 cooling fan motor

      (with Inner Mounted Type Horns)

      If the result is not as specified, replace the No. 2 cooling fan motor.

    5. Connect the No. 2 cooling fan motor connector.
