HYBRID BATTERY SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:P0A7F-123

DESCRIPTION

• The battery smart unit and the power management control ECU calculate the SOC (state of charge) of the HV battery through the accumulated amperage in the HV battery. The battery smart unit sends the condition of the HV battery to the power management control ECU. Then the power management control ECU calculates the SOC based on the information and controls HV battery charge and discharge according to the driving condition.

  Tech Tips

  
  

  • P0A7F-123 will not be set unless the vehicle is driven for approximately 10 minutes after clearing the DTC. (As 2 trip detection logic is used, check for DTCs including pending DTCs.)

  • In order to ensure HV battery performance, appropriate cooling performance must be maintained. Perform the following items as necessary. If cooling performance has decreased and "MAINTENANCE REQUIRED FOR TRACTION BATTERY COOLING PARTS SEE OWNER'S MANUAL" is displayed on the multi-information display, make sure to perform the following items:

  
  

  • Make sure the air intake port is not blocked.

  • Make sure there are no gaps between the connecting parts of the ducts.

  • Clean the No. 1 hybrid battery intake filter.

  
  

  • Clear the DTCs to reset the learning values even if no DTCs are stored.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV)

   
   

   1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

   2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

   3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / DTC.

   4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result
      Result Proceed to P0AFC-123 is not output. A P0AFC-123 is also output. B

   5. Turn the power switch off.

2. CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA

   
   

   1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

   2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

   3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.

   4. Read output DTCs.

      Click here

   5. Read the value of freeze frame data item "Number of Hybrid Battery Current Sensor Characteristics Determination" for DTC P0A7F-123 .

   6. Disconnect the GTS from the DLC3.

   REPLACE HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY

3. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (VB1 - VB14)

   
   

   1. Ensure the safety of the areas in front and at the back of the vehicle.

   2. Apply the parking brake and secure the wheels using chocks.

   3. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

   4. Turn the power switch on (READY).

   5. Fully warm up the engine and turn the air conditioning off.

   6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Battery block Vol -V01 to V14.

   7. Firmly depress the brake pedal with your left foot.

   8. Move the select lever to D.

   9. Record each battery block voltage from the data list "Battery block Vol -V01 to V14" while fully depressing the accelerator pedal.

   10. Compare the battery block voltages "Battery block Vol -V01 to V14" between the even and odd number groups in each combination shown in the table below.

       When an internal malfunction occurs in the battery smart unit, this symptom (difference in voltage of 0.3 V or more for all 7 pairs of blocks) will occur.

   11. Turn the power switch off.
