| DTC Code | DTC Name |
|---|---|
| P0657 | Actuator Supply Voltage Circuit / Open |
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
The ECM monitors the output voltage to the throttle actuator. This self-check ensures that the ECM is functioning properly. The output voltage is usually 0 V when the power switch is turned off. If the output voltage is higher than 7 V when the power switch is turned off, the ECM will illuminate the MIL and set the DTC the next time the power switch is turned on (IG).
| DTC No. | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |
|---|---|---|
| P0657 | Throttle actuator power supply error (1 trip detection logic). | ECM |
MONITOR STRATEGY
| Required sensors/Components (Main) | ECM |
| Frequency of operation | Once per driving cycle |
TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS
| Power switch | On (IG) to off |
| Throttle actuator power supply voltage | 7 V or higher |
TYPICAL MALFUNCTION THRESHOLDS
| Electric throttle actuator power supply | ON |
CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the tester on.
Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).
Turn the tester off.
Turn the power switch off.
Disconnect the tester.
Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal and wait for 1 minute.
Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
Turn the power switch on (IG).
Wait 10 seconds or more.
Turn the power switch off.
Wait 15 seconds or more.
Connect the tester to the DLC3.
Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the tester on.
Wait 5 seconds or more.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.
Read the pending DTCs.
Tech Tips
If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
Input the DTC: P0657.
Check the DTC judgment result.
| Tester Display | Description |

Tech Tips
If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
Note
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.
Tech Tips
Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction.
