  2. CHECK SPEAKER (OPERATION CHECK)

      Enter the "System Check Mode" screen. Refer to Check Speaker in Operation Check Click here.

    2. Perform the operation check above and determine the speaker that is not operating.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY AND RADIO SETTING CONDENSER)


    1. Disconnect the H162 radio receiver assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the J1 and K1 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.

    3. Disconnect the H46 radio setting condenser connector.

    4. Measure the resistance between the radio receiver assembly and each of the front No. 1 speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H162-1 (FR+) - J1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      H162-5 (FR-) - J1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      H162-2 (FL+) - K1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      H162-6 (FL-) - K1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    5. Measure the resistance between the radio receiver assembly and radio setting condenser to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      H162-1 (FR+) - H46-3 (RIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      H162-5 (FR-) - H46-6 (ROUT) Always Below 1 Ω

    6. Measure the resistance between the radio receiver assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      H162-5 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO SETTING CONDENSER - FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the I3 and I5 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.

    2. Disconnect the H46 radio setting condenser connector.

    3. Measure the resistance between the radio setting condenser and each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      H46-8 (RI+) - I3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      H46-7 (RI-) - I3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      H46-4 (LI+) - I5-2 Always Below 1 Ω

    4. Measure the resistance between the radio setting condenser and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

    3. Measure the resistance between the radio receiver assembly and each of the rear speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

    4. Measure the resistance between the radio receiver assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

    1. Disconnect the H157 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the I3 and I5 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.

    3. Disconnect the I4 and I6 front No. 3 speaker assembly connectors.

    4. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

    5. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and each of the front No. 3 speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Tech Tips


      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 3 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.

      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.

      • Perform the above inspection on both the LH and RH side.

  15. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the H157 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the J1 and K1 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.

    3. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and each of the front No. 1 speaker assemblies to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance
