STEERING WHEEL INSTALLATION

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note


  • Do not replace the spiral cable with the auxiliary battery connected and the power switch on (IG).

  • Do not rotate the spiral cable without the steering wheel with the auxiliary battery connected and the power switch on (IG).

  • Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.

  • Do not remove the steering sensor from the spiral cable.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL HEATER CONTROL ASSEMBLY (w/ Steering Heater)

  2. INSTALL LOWER STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER (w/o Steering Heater)


    1. Engage the 4 claws to install the lower steering wheel boss cover to the steering wheel sub-assembly.

    2. Install the 2 screws.

      Torque:
      1.7 N*m  { 17 kgf*cm, 15 in.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL LOWER STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER (w/ Steering Heater)


    1. Connect the connector to the steering wheel heater control assembly.

    2. B001NAZ

      As shown in the illustration, place the wire harness along the guides.

    3. Engage the 4 claws to install the lower steering wheel boss cover to the steering wheel sub-assembly.

      Note

      Do not allow the steering heater wire harness to be caught between the lower steering wheel boss cover and the steering wheel sub-assembly.

    4. Install the 2 screws.

      Torque:
      1.7 N*m  { 17 kgf*cm, 15 in.*lbf }

  4. INSTALL STEERING SHAKE DAMPER


    1. Install the steering shake damper to the steering wheel sub-assembly with the 2 screws.

      Torque:
      2.4 N*m  { 24 kgf*cm, 21 in.*lbf }

  5. INSTALL CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE (w/ Cruise Control System)


    1. Install the cruise control switch wire.

  6. INSTALL CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH (w/ Cruise Control System)

  7. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  8. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  9. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

  10. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

      Install the steering wheel assembly aligning the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

    2. Install the steering wheel assembly set nut.

      Torque:
      50 N*m  { 510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf }

    3. Connect the connectors to the spiral cable and steering wheel assembly.

  11. CHECK STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT

  12. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
