STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

Do not replace the spiral cable with the auxiliary battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
Do not rotate the spiral cable without the steering wheel with the auxiliary battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.
Do not remove the steering sensor from the spiral cable.

PROCEDURE

ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY

REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
1. *a Matchmark
  
  Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.
2. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.
3. Disconnect connector from the spiral cable sub-assembly.
4. w/ Steering Heater:
  1. Disconnect the connector from the steering wheel heater control assembly.
5. *a Turn
  
  *b Hold
  
  Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

  Note
  
  Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.
REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH (w/ Cruise Control System)

REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY

REMOVE STEERING SHAKE DAMPER
1. Remove the 2 screws and steering shake damper from the steering wheel sub-assembly.
REMOVE LOWER STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER (w/o Steering Heater)
1. Remove the 2 screws.
2. Disengage the 4 claws to remove the lower steering wheel boss cover from the steering wheel sub-assembly.
REMOVE LOWER STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER (w/ Steering Heater)
1. Remove the 2 screws.
2. Disengage the 4 claws to remove the lower steering wheel boss cover from the steering wheel sub-assembly.
3. Disconnect the connector from the steering wheel heater control assembly.
