PARKING BRAKE CABLE REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

2. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CONTROL PEDAL ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

3. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CONTROL PEDAL ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

   Click here

4. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

   
   

   1. 

      Remove the adjusting nut.

   2. 

      Pull up the parking brake pedal claw.

   3. 

      Remove the clip from the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.

   4. Remove the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake pedal assembly.

5. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

   
   

   1. 

      Remove the adjusting nut.

   2. 

      Pull up the parking brake pedal claw.

   3. 

      Remove the clip from the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.

   4. Remove the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake pedal assembly.

6. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE PULL ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY

      *1	No. 1 Parking Brake Pull Rod Sub-assembly
      *2	No. 2 Parking Brake Cable Assembly
      *3	No. 3 Parking Brake Cable Assembly

      Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the No. 1 parking brake pull rod sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

   2. Separate the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly to remove the No. 1 parking brake pull rod sub-assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Perform the same procedure as for the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

7. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

8. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR

   
   

   1. 

      Remove the 3 nuts and front No. 2 floor heat insulator.

9. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER (w/ Floor Under Cover)

   
   

   1. for LH Side:

      Tech Tips

      Perform the following procedure when removing the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

      
      

      1. 

         Remove the 2 bolts, nut and clip.

      2. Disengage the clip and remove the rear floor side member cover LH.

   2. for RH Side:

      Tech Tips

      Perform the following procedure when removing the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly.

      
      

      1. 

         Remove the bolt and nut.

      2. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the rear floor side member cover RH.

10. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR

    
    

    1. 

       Remove the parking brake lever protector from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

11. REMOVE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

    
    

    1. 

       Disengage the clamp to separate the No. 2 parking brake cable clamp.

    2. 

       Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

    3.

       *1	No. 3 Parking Brake Cable Assembly
       *2	Clip
       *3	Offset Wrench (14 mm)

       Disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

       Tech Tips

       Insert an offset wrench (14 mm) at the base of the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly as shown in the illustration to disengage the clip. Pull out the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

    4. Remove the 5 bolts and No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

       

12. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE CLAMP

    
    

    1. for Separate type No. 2 parking brake cable clamp:

       
       

       1. 

          Disengage the 2 claws to remove the No. 2 parking brake cable clamp from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

    2. for One-piece type No. 2 parking brake cable clamp:

       
       

       1. Using pliers or equivalent, remove the No. 2 parking brake cable clamp from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

          Tech Tips

          The No. 2 parking brake cable clamp cannot be reused once removed. Make sure to remove it from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
