FRONT DIFFERENTIAL SIDE GEAR SHAFT OIL SEAL(for AWD) REPLACEMENT

PROCEDURE


  1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  2. DRAIN DIFFERENTIAL OIL

  3. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the engine assembly Click here.

  4. INSTALL ENGINE ON ENGINE STAND

    Click here

  5. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY

    Click here

  6. REPLACE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE OIL SEAL


    1. A001FQM

      Set the front differential carrier assembly to an overhaul stand as shown in the illustration.

    2. for LH:


      1. A001DB7E02

        Using SST, remove the front differential case oil seal LH.

        *1 Front Differential Case Oil Seal LH

        Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new front differential case oil seal LH to the front differential carrier assembly.

        Standard depth
        -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0196 in.)

        Note


        • Tap the front differential case oil seal LH uniformly so that the front differential case oil seal LH is straight.

        • Do not excessively tap the oil seal.

        • Make sure the difference between the maximum and minimum measured values is less than 0.57 mm (0.0224 in.), as a greater difference may lead to oil leaks.

    3. for RH:

        Using SST, remove the front differential case oil seal RH.

        Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new front differential case oil seal RH to the front differential carrier assembly.

        Standard depth
        1.0 to 2.0 mm (0.0394 to 0.0787 in.)

        Note


        • Tap the front differential case oil seal RH uniformly so that the front differential case oil seal RH is straight.

        • Do not excessively tap the oil seal.

        • Make sure the difference between the maximum and minimum measured values is less than 0.47 mm (0.0185 in.), as a greater difference may lead to oil leaks.

    4. A001FQM

      Remove the front differential carrier assembly from the overhaul stand.

  7. INSTALL FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY

  8. INSTALL ENGINE TO VEHICLE


    1. Remove the engine from the engine stand and then install it to the vehicle Click here.

  9. ADD DIFFERENTIAL OIL
