  1. INSTALL OVERDRIVE PLANETARY GEAR THRUST WASHER NO.3


    1. A003IDQ

      Install the thrust washer to the O/D planetary gear with the groove side facing upward.

  2. INSTALL OVERDRIVE 1 WAY CLUTCH

      Install the 2 retainers to the one-way clutch.

    2. Install the one-way clutch into the outer race with the flange side of the one-way clutch facing upward.

    3. A003EWSE02

      Install the O/D one-way clutch and outer race to the O/D planetary gear.

  3. INSTALL OVERDRIVE RETAINING PLATE


    1. A003ERG

      Install the retaining plate.

    2. A003HLF

      Using a screwdriver, install the snap ring.

  4. INSTALL OVERDRIVE PLANETARY RING GEAR FLANGE


    1. A003GPI

      Install the ring gear flange.

    2. A003BWH

      Using a screwdriver, install the snap ring.

  5. INSTALL OVERDRIVE DIRECT CLUTCH PISTON SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A003C7W

      Coat new O-rings with ATF, and install them on the O/D direct clutch piston.

    2. Being careful not to damage the O-rings, and press in the direct clutch piston into the clutch drum with both hands.

  6. INSTALL OVERDRIVE CLUTCH RETURN SPRING SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Install the piston return spring to the piston.

      Place SST on the spring retainer, and compress the return spring with a press.

      Note

      Stop compressing when the spring sheet is lowered to the place 1 to 2mm(0.039 to 0.078 in.) from the snap ring groove, preventing the spring sheet from being deformed.

    3. Using a screwdriver, install the snap ring. Be sure the end gap of the snap ring is not aligned with the spring retainer claw.

  7. INSTALL OVERDRIVE DIRECT CLUTCH CLUTCH DISC

      Install the 2 plates and discs.

      Install in order
      P = Plate D = Disc
      P - D - P - D
    2. A003B4U

      Install the flange with the flat end facing downward.

    3. A003FBZ

      Using a screwdriver, install the snap ring.

  8. INSPECT PISTON STROKE OF OVERDRIVE DIRECT CLUTCH

  9. INSTALL OVERDRIVE DIRECT CLUTCH DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A003I8G

      Align the flukes of the discs in the direct clutch.

    2. Install the direct clutch assembly onto the O/D planetary gear.

  10. INSPECT OVERDRIVE 1 WAY CLUTCH

      Hold the O/D direct clutch drum, and turn the input shaft. Check that the input shaft can be turned freely clockwise and locked counterclockwise.
