  1. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK CONTROL ECU (w/o Smart Entry and Start System)

    Tech Tips

    Do not disconnect the shift lock control unit assembly connector.

      (Shift Lock Control ECU)

      Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      5 (KLS+) - 1 (E) Ignition switch ACC and shift lever in P Below 1 V
      Ignition switch ACC and shift lever not in P 11 to 14 V
      6 (ACC) - 1 (E) Ignition switch ACC 11 to 14 V
      Ignition switch off Below 1 V
      4 (STP) - 1 (E) Brake pedal depressed 11 to 14 V
      Brake pedal released Below 1 V
      8 (IG) - 1 (E) Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      Ignition switch off Below 1 V
      10 (SLS-) - 1 (E) Ignition switch ON, brake pedal depressed and shift lever in P Below 2.5 V
      Ignition switch ON, brake pedal released and shift lever in P 11 to 14 V

      If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control ECU.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control ECU.

  2. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK CONTROL ECU (w/ Smart Entry and Start System)

    Tech Tips

    Do not disconnect the shift lock control unit assembly connector.

      Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      6 (STP) - 3 (E) Brake pedal depressed 11 to 14 V
      Brake pedal released Below 1 V
      12 (IG) - 3 (E) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      Engine switch off Below 1 V
      14 (SLS-) - 3 (E) Engine switch on (IG), brake pedal depressed and shift lever in P Below 2.5 V
      Engine switch on (IG), brake pedal released and shift lever in P 11 to 14 V

      If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control ECU.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control ECU.

  3. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID


    1. Disconnect the shift lock solenoid connector from the shift lock control ECU.

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (P) - 3 (E2) Shift lever in P 10 kΩ or higher
      Shift lever not in P Below 1 Ω
      1 (SLS+) - 2 (SLS-) Always 112 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control unit assembly.

  4. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH


    1. Disconnect the transmission control switch connector.

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (NSSD) - 2 (ATS) Shift lever in 3 Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not in 3 10 kΩ or higher
      1 (NSSD) - 3 (ATD) Shift lever in D Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not in D 10 kΩ or higher

      If the result is not as specified, replace the shift lock control unit assembly.
