INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY


    1. Set the instrument panel assembly in place.

    2. Install the 2 clips and 2 nuts <D> and 3 screws <B> and 4 bolts <A>.

  2. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH

  3. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH

  4. INSTALL ASSIST GRIP ASSEMBLY

  5. INSTALL FRONT ASSIST GRIP PLUG NO. 1

  6. INSTALL HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the connector.

    2. Attach the 2 claws to install the hazard warning signal switch.

  7. INSTALL FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (w/ Front Passenger Airbag)

      With the front passenger airbag installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects mentioned below, replace the instrument panel with a new one:


      • Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the instrument panel around the front passenger airbag.

  8. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Attach the 2 hinges to install the glove compartment door assembly.

      Push the positions indicated by the arrows in the illustration inward to attach the 2 stoppers.

  9. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER CENTER


    1. w/ No. 3 Heater Control Knob

      Attach the 2 claws to connect the air mix damper control cable sub-assembly to the No. 3 heater control knob.

    2. Attach the 2 claws to connect the heater control cable sub-assembly to the heater control knob.

    3. Attach the 2 claws to connect the air inlet damper control cable sub-assembly to the No. 2 heater control knob.

    4. Connect the cable to the clamp.

    5. Connect the connector.

    6. Attach the 8 claws to install the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly lower center (air conditioning control assembly).

  10. INSTALL SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission)

  11. INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)

  12. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER


    1. Attach the 8 claws to install the instrument panel finish panel lower center.

  13. INSTALL SHIFTING HOLE COVER ASSEMBLY


    1. for Manual Transmission:

      Attach the 6 claws to install the shifting hole cover assembly.

    2. for Automatic Transmission:

      Attach the 8 claws to install the shifting hole cover assembly.

  14. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB

      Turn the shift lever knob in the direction indicated by the arrow and install it.

  15. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE HOLE COVER


    1. Attach the 6 claws to install the parking brake hole cover.

  16. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO. 1


    1. Attach the 3 claws to instrument panel under cover sub-assembly No. 1.

    2. Install the the 2 clips.

  17. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER


    1. Connect the fuel lid lock control cable and bonnet (hood) control cable assembly to the instrument panel finish lower.

    2. Attach the 4 clips to install the instrument panel finish panel lower.

    3. Install the 2 clips.

  18. INSTALL RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (w/ Radio Receiver)

  19. INSTALL STEREO OPENING COVER WITH BRACKET (w/o Radio Receiver)


    1. Install the stereo tuner opening cover with bracket with the 4 screws <C>.

  20. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL CUP HOLDER ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the instrument panel cup holder assembly with the 3 screws <C>.

  21. INSTALL COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY


    1. Attach the wire harness clamp and connect the 2 connectors.

    2. Attach the 2 claws to install the combination meter assembly.

    3. Install the 2 screws.

  22. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Attach the 6 claws and a hooks to install the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.

  23. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY


    1. Attach the 4 claws to install the instrument cluster finish panel assembly.

  24. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH NO. 1


    1. Attach the 3 claws to install the instrument cluster finish panel garnish No. 1.

  25. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY CENTER


    1. for Standard Body:

      Attach the 14 claws to install the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly center.

    2. for Wide Body:

      Attach the 16 claws to install the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly center.

  26. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH NO. 2


    1. Attach the 3 claws to install the instrument cluster finish panel garnish No. 2.

  27. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH WITH SPIRAL CABLE (w/ Airbag System)


    1. Set the turn signal switch with spiral cable to the steering column.

    2. While loosening the band clamp, attach the claw to install the turn signal switch with spiral cable.

    3. Connect each connector.

  28. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH WITH WIPER SWITCH (w/o Airbag System)


    1. Set the turn signal switch with wiper switch to the steering column.

    2. While loosening the band clamp, attach the claw to install the turn signal switch with wiper switch.

    3. Connect each connector.

  29. INSTALL KEY CYLINDER LIGHT ASSEMBLY (w/ Key Cylinder Light)


    1. Attach the claw to install the key cylinder light assembly.

  30. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER UPPER


    1. Install the steering column cover upper.

  31. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER LOWER


    1. Engage the 4 claws to install the steering column lower cover to the steering column upper cover.

    2. Using a "TORX" socket wrench (T25), tighten the 2 screws.

  32. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER LOWER NO. 2 (w/ Smart Entry and Start System)


    1. Install the 4 guide pins install the No. 2 steering column lower cover.

  33. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Airbag System)

    Note


    • Do not replace the spiral cable sub-assembly with the battery connected and the ignition switch on (IG).

    • Do not rotate the spiral cable sub-assembly with the battery connected and the ignition switch on (IG).

    • When rotating the spiral cable sub-assembly to check the operation of the spiral cable subassembly (checking for abnormal noise, checking the DTC, Data list, etc) make sure to perform the inspection with the steering wheel assembly installed.


    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.

    4. Set the turn signal switch to the neutral position.

      Note

      If it is not in the neutral position, the turn signal switch cancel ratchet may snap.

    5. Attach the 3 claws to install the spiral cable sub-assembly.

    6. Connect the connectors to the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Note

      When handling the airbag connector, do not damage the airbag wire harness.

  34. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY


    1. Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and the steering column assembly.

    2. Install the steering wheel set nut.

      Torque:
      50 N*m  { 510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf }

    3. Connect the connectors.

  35. INSTALL STEERING PAD (w/o Airbag System)


    1. Connect the horn connector.

    2. Using a "TORX" socket wrench (T30), tighten the 2 screws.

      Torque:
      1.5 N*m  { 15 kgf*cm, 13 in.*lbf }

  36. INSTALL STEERING PAD (w/ Airbag System)


    1. With the steering pad installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the steering pad with a new one:

      Cuts, small cracks or marked discoloration on the steering pad top surface or in the grooved portion.

    2. Make sure that the horn sounds.

  37. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO. 3

  38. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO. 2

  39. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  40. INSPECT STEERING PAD (w/ Airbag System)


    1. With the steering pad installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the steering pad with a new one:

      Cuts, small cracks or marked discoloration on the steering pad top surface or in the grooved portion.

    2. Make sure that the horn sounds.
