WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM (w/o Smart Entry and Start System) OPERATION CHECK

  1. NOTICE WHEN CHECKING

    1. Wireless door lock/unlock function:

The wireless door lock control function operates only when the following conditions are met:

      • The ignition switch is off.

      • All the doors are closed.

        Tech Tips

The unlock function operates even when one of the doors is open.

      • The power door lock system is functioning normally.

    2. The operational range of the door control transmitter assembly differs depending on the situation.

      • The operational range differs depending on the user, the way the door control transmitter assembly is held and the location.

      • In certain areas, the operational range will be reduced due to the vehicle body shape and the influence of the surrounding environment.

      • The weak electric waves from the door control transmitter assembly may be affected if the area has strong electric waves or noise. The operational range of the door control transmitter assembly may be reduced or the door control transmitter assembly may not function.

      • When the transmitter battery weakens, the operational range is reduced and the door control transmitter assembly may not function.

        Tech Tips

The transmitter battery may weaken or other problems may occur if one of the following occurs: 1) the door control transmitter assembly has had prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, such as on the instrument panel; or 2) the door control transmitter assembly is placed within 1 m (3.28 ft) of electrical products, such as TVs, computers, cordless phones, cell phone recharger stands (with the cell phone recharging), etc.

  2. CHECK WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL FUNCTION

    Tech Tips

    • The switches described below transmit signals and are built into the door control transmitter assembly.

    • The operational range of the door control transmitter assembly must be taken into account while checks are being made.

    1. Make sure the vehicle is in a condition in which the wireless control functions can be operated (see above).

    2. Check the basic functions:

      1. Check whether the LED of the door control transmitter assembly comes on 3 times when each switch is pressed and held for 5 seconds.

        Tech Tips

If the transmitter LED illuminates once or twice but not a third time when the switch has been pressed and held for 5 seconds or more, it may have a weak battery.

      2. Check that all doors lock when the lock switch is pressed.

      3. Check that all doors unlock when the unlock switch is pressed.

      4. Check that slide door opens when the luggage door open switch is held down for 0.8 seconds or more (w/ Power Slide Door System).

    3. Check the chattering prevention function:

      1. Check that the corresponding operation occurs only once and is not repeated continuously while the switch is held. However, when the switch is operated repeatedly at 1 second intervals, check that the corresponding operation is carried out.

    4. Check the automatic locking function:

      1. Check that the doors relock automatically as long as none of the doors have been opened or all doors have not been locked within approximately 30 seconds after all doors are unlocked by pressing the unlock switch.

      2. Check that the automatic locking function does not operate when any door has been opened within approximately 30 seconds of unlocking the doors by pressing the unlock switch.

      3. Check that the automatic locking function does not operate when all doors have been locked manually (such as using key linked operation, or by pressing the lock switch) within approximately 30 seconds of unlocking the doors by pressing the unlock switch.

    5. Check the switch operation fail-safe function:

      1. Check that the doors cannot be locked/unlocked when operating a switch on an unregistered door control transmitter assembly, but that the doors can be locked/unlocked when operating a switch on the registered door control transmitter assembly.

    6. Check the door ajar warning function:

      1. Check that the wireless door lock buzzer sounds for approximately 5 seconds when the lock switch is pressed with any of the doors ajar or open.

    7. Check the repeat function:

      1. Check that all doors attempt to automatically lock once again 1 second after the lock switch has been pressed while the driver door control knob is being held in the unlock position.

    8. Check the answer-back (hazard warning light):

      • When the lock switch is pressed, check that the hazard warning lights flash once simultaneously with the locking operation of all the doors.

      • When the unlock switch is pressed once, check that the hazard warning lights flash twice simultaneously with the unlocking operation of all the doors.

        Tech Tips

The doors can be unlocked even when a door is open or ajar.
