DESCRIPTION

Speeds signals are sent from the combination meter assembly to the tire pressure warning ECU and receiver.

DTC C2191/91 is stored only during the signal check.

All conditions below are met:


  • DTC C2121/21, C2122/22, C2123/23, C2124/24 and/or C2125/25 is output

  • Vehicle speed signal malfunction

  • Combination meter assembly

  • Vehicle speed signal circuit

  • Wire harness or connector

  • Tire pressure warning ECU and receiver

  • Tire pressure warning valve and transmitter
C2191/91 Test mode procedure is performed.

  • Meter / gauge system (speed signal)

  • Vehicle speed signal circuit

  • Wire harness or connector

  • Tire pressure warning ECU and receiver

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note


  • When replacing the tire pressure warning ECU and receiver, read the transmitter IDs stored in the old ECU using the GTS and write them down before removal.

  • It is necessary to perform initialization Click here after registration Click here of the transmitter IDs into the tire pressure warning ECU and receiver if the ECU has been replaced.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING DATA LIST (VEHICLE SPEED)


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    4. Turn the GTS on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Tire Pressure Monitor / Data List.

      min.: 0 km/h (0 mph)

      max.: 255 km/h (158 mph)

      		 Actual vehicle speed Speed indicated on combination meter assembly

    6. Check that the values indicated on the GTS and on the combination meter assembly are the same.

      OK
      Vehicle speed indicated on the GTS indicates the actual speed.

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT


    1. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    4. Perform a driving test.

    5. Check for DTCs Click here.

      The time required for DTC C2174 to be stored is 20 minutes.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECU - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY)


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the T38 tire pressure warning ECU and receiver connector.

    3. Disconnect the H20 combination meter assembly connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      T38-2 (SPD) - H20-6 (+S) Always Below 1 Ω
      T38-2 (SPD) or H20-6 (+S) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - SKID CONTROL ECU)


    1. Disconnect the B92 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.

    2. Disconnect the H20 combination meter assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B92-14 (SP1) - H20-7 (SI) Always Below 1 Ω
      B92-14 (SP1) or H20-7 (SI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  5. CHECK DTC OUTPUT


    1. Clear the DTCs.


    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    4. Check for DTCs.

  9. CHECK TEST MODE DTC (C2191/91)


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    4. Turn the GTS on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Tire Pressure Monitor / Utility / Signal Check.

    6. Drive the vehicle at 20 km/h (12 mph) or more for 3 seconds or more to check the vehicle speed signal (C2191/91).
