REAR AXLE SHAFT REASSEMBLY


  1. INSTALL REAR AXLE BEARING CASE


    1. Install the rear axle bearing case to the rear brake backing plate.

    2. A003HYIE01

      Using a deep socket wrench (10 mm), socket wrench (21 mm) and press, install the 4 rear brake backing plate No.1 bolts.

  2. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT BEARING

      Using SST and a press, install a new rear axle shaft bearing.

  3. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT OUTER OIL SEAL


    1. A003GSEE01

      Using SST and a hammer, install a new rear axle shaft outer oil seal to the rear axle shaft bearing case.

    2. Apply MP grease to the oil seal lip.

  4. INSTALL BRAKE DRUM OIL DEFLECTOR


    1. A003BLWE01

      Aligning the notches, install the brake drum oil deflector, brake drum oil deflector gasket and rear axle hub bolts.

    2. Hold the rear axle shaft in a vise between aluminium plates.

      Note

      Do not overtighten the vise.

    3. A003DAFE01

      Install a washer and nut to the rear axle hub bolt as shown in the illustration.

    4. Install the rear axle hub bolt by tightening the nut.

  5. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT


    1. Install the rear axle shaft sub-assembly to the rear axle shaft bearing.

    2. Install the bearing retainer inner to the rear axle shaft bearing.

      Note

      Be sure to install the bearing retainer inner in the correct direction.

    3. A003BVEE01

      Using SST and a press, install the rear axle shaft sub-assembly to the rear axle shaft bearing.

  6. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT SNAP RING


    1. A003I4Y

      Using a snap ring expander, install the new rear axle shaft snap ring.

  7. INSTALL SKID CONTROL ROTOR REAR (w/ ABS)

      Install a new rear skid control rotor to the rear axle shaft sub-assembly, as shown in the illustration.

      Note


      • Be sure to install the skid control rotor rear in the correct direction.

      • Be careful not to damage the skid control rotor rear.

    2. A003EFXE01

      Using SST and a press, install the skid control rotor rear and bearing retainer inner.

      Standard
      31 to 33 mm (1.2205 to 1.2992 in.)

      Note

      Be sure to install the bearing retainer inner in the correct direction.
