PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY OPERATION


    1. Apply the parking break and turn ignition switch on.

    2. Depress the break pedal and check that the engine starts only when the shift lever is set in N or P position and it does not start in other positions.

    3. Check that the back up light is lit and the reverse warning buzzer sounds only when the shift lever is set in R position and these do not function.

    4. If a failure is found, check the park / neutral position switch for continuity.

  2. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. A003EKXE05

      Jack up the vehicle.

    2. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Except P ↑ 10 kΩor higher
      R 2 - 1 Below 1 Ω
      Except R ↑ 10 kΩor higher
      N 2 - 9 and 4 - 5 Below 1 Ω
      Except N ↑ 10 kΩor higher
      D and 3 2 - 7 Below 1 Ω
      Except D and 3 ↑ 10 kΩor higher
      2 2 - 3 Below 1 Ω
      Except 2 ↑ 10 kΩor higher
      L 2 - 8 Below 1 Ω
      Except L ↑ 10 kΩor higher
