EXTENSION HOUSING REAR OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT


  1. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID


    1. A003H67

      Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF.

    2. Install a new gasket and the drain plug.

      Torque:
      20 N*m  { 205 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }

  2. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE EXTENSION HOUSING REAR OIL SEAL


    1. A003GX7E01

      Using SST, remove the extension housing rear oil seal together with the dust seal and retainer.

  4. INSTALL EXTENSION HOUSING REAR OIL SEAL


    1. Coat the lip of a new extension housing rear oil seal with MP grease.

    2. A003AORE01

      Using SST and a hammer, tap in the extension housing rear oil seal.

      Standard depth
      6.2 to 6.8 mm (0.245 to 0.267 in.)

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the lip of the extension housing rear oil seal.

    3. Install a new dust seal to a new retainer.

    4. A003HYJE01

      Using SST and a hammer, tap in the dust seal together with the retainer.

      0.7 to 1.3 mm (0.0276 to 0.0511 in.)

  5. INSTALL PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY

  6. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID

    Fluid type
    Toyota Genuine ATF Type T-IV

  7. CHECK AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL
