FUEL TANK REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY


    1. A003AD9E01

      Put matchmarks on both flanges.

    2. Remove the 4 nuts, bolts and washers.

      Tech Tips

      If the flange connection is hard to separate, temporarily tighten one nut only and evenly tap the flange with a brass bar and hammer to separate the propeller shaft assembly from the differential companion flange.

    3. Remove the propeller shaft assembly.

      Insert SST in the transmission to prevent oil leakage.

      Note

      Do not damage the oil seal.


      1. Use the following SST for the automatic transmission

        SST
        09325-40010

      2. Use the following SST for the manual transmission

        SST
        09325-20010

  2. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK WIRE


    1. A003B5SE01

      Disconnect the fuel tank wire.

  3. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK RETURN TUBE


    1. A003AH6E01

      Disconnect the fuel tank return tube Click here.

  4. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A003GPUE01

      Disconnect the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly.

  5. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK BREATHER TUBE


    1. A003F7ME01

      Slide the clip and disconnect the fuel tank breather tube from the fuel tank assembly.

  6. REMOVE FUEL HOSE PROTECTOR

      Detach the 2 claws to remove the fuel hose protector from the fuel tank to filler pipe hose.

  7. DISCONNECT NO. 3 FUEL HOSE

      Loosen the clamp bolt and disconnect the No. 3 fuel hose.

  8. REMOVE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable.

    2. Support the fuel tank with a transmission jack.

      Remove the 6 bolts, 2 fuel tank bands and fuel tank assembly.

  9. REMOVE FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the fuel tank wire, No. 1 fuel evaporation tube sub-assembly, fuel tank main tube sub- assembly and fuel tank return tube sub-assembly from the fuel sender gauge assembly.

    2. Remove the No. 1 fuel evaporation tube sub-assembly, fuel tank main tube sub-assembly and fuel tank return tube sub-assembly from the fuel hose grommet.

    3. Remove the fuel hose grommet from the fuel tank assembly.

    4. Remove the 8 bolts, fuel pump gauge retainer, fuel suction tube set gasket and fuel sender gauge assembly.
