REAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL (w/ Dual VVT-i) REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE MANUAL TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)

  2. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission)

  3. REMOVE CLUTCH COVER ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)

      Put matchmarks on the clutch cover assembly and the flywheel sub-assembly.

    2. Loosen each set bolt one turn at a time until spring tension is released.

    3. Remove the set bolts, and pull off the clutch cover assembly.

      Note

      Do not drop the clutch disc assembly.

  4. REMOVE CLUTCH DISC ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)

    Note

    Keep the lining part of the clutch disc assembly, the pressure plate and surface of the flywheel sub-assembly away from oil and foreign matter.

  5. REMOVE FLYWHEEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)

      Using SST, hold the crankshaft.

      Remove the 10 bolts and flywheel sub-assembly.

  6. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission)

      Using SST, hold the crankshaft.

      Remove the 10 bolts, rear drive plate spacer, drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly and front drive plate spacer.

  7. REMOVE REAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL

      Using a knife, cut through the rear crankshaft oil seal lip.

    2. Using a screwdriver with its tip taped, pry out the rear crankshaft oil seal.

      Note

      After the removal, check the crankshaft for damage. If it is damaged, smooth the surface with 400-grit sandpaper.
