OIL FILTER REMOVAL


  1. DRAIN ENGINE OIL


    1. Remove the oil filler cap.

    2. Remove the oil drain plug and drain the engine oil from the oil pan sub-assembly.

      Note

      Collect the oil in a disposable oil container.

    3. Clean the oil pan drain plug and install it with a new gasket.

      Torque:
      38 N*m  { 382 kgf*cm, 28 ft.*lbf }

  2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER NO. 2 (for Narrow Body, w/ Engine Under Cover No. 2)

  3. REMOVE ENGINE SIDE UNDER COVER RH (for Wide Body, w/ Engine Side Under Cover RH)

  4. REMOVE OIL FILTER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Type A)

      Using SST, remove the oil filter sub-assembly.

  5. REMOVE OIL FILTER ELEMENT (for Type B)

      Connect a hose with an inside diameter of 15 mm (0.591 in.) to the oil filter drain pipe.

      Remove the oil filter drain plug from the oil filter cap.

      Note

      Do not remove the O-ring (for drain plug).

      Install the pipe to which the hose was attached to the oil filter cap.

      Note

      Insert the pipe with O-ring (for drain plug) attached to the oil filter cap side.

      Tech Tips

      Use a container to catch the draining engine oil.

    4. A003B82

      Check that the engine oil has been drained and remove the pipe and O-ring (for drain plug).

      Tech Tips

      Remove the pipe in the direction indicated by the arrows shown in the illustration.

    5. Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring (for drain plug) and install it to the oil filter drain plug.

    6. Install the oil filter drain plug to the oil filter cap.

      Torque:
      13 N*m  { 127 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }

      Using SST, remove the oil filter cap.

      Remove the oil filter element and O-ring (for cap) from the oil filter cap.
