ECD SYSTEM VC Output Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The VC voltage (5 V) is generated in the ECM. The voltage is used to supply power to the throttle position sensor, manifold absolute pressure sensor, accelerator position sensor and fuel pressure sensor.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK MIL


    1. Check that the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) lights up when turning the ignition switch ON.

      Result
      Condition Proceed to
      MIL does not illuminate A
      MIL illuminates B

  2. CHECK CONNECTION BETWEEN GTS AND ECM


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and GTS ON.

    3. Check the communication between the GTS and ECM.

      Communication is possible B

  3. CHECK MIL (THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR)


    1. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    3. Check the MIL.

      Result
      Condition Proceed to
      MIL does not illuminate A
      MIL illuminates B
    4. Reconnect the throttle position sensor connector.

  4. CHECK MIL (MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR)


    1. Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    3. Check the MIL.

      Result
      Condition Proceed to
      MIL does not illuminate A
      MIL illuminates B
    4. Reconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector.

  5. CHECK MIL (ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR)


    1. Disconnect the accelerator pedal position sensor connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    3. Check the MIL.

      Result
      Condition Proceed to
      MIL does not illuminate A
      MIL illuminates B
    4. Reconnect the accelerator position sensor connector.

  6. CHECK MIL (FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR)


    1. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    3. Check the MIL.

      Result
      Condition Proceed to
      MIL does not illuminate A
      MIL illuminates B
    4. Reconnect the fuel pressure sensor connector.

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.

    2. Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector.

    3. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor connector.

    4. Disconnect the accelerator pedal position sensor connector.

    5. Disconnect the ECM connectors.

    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D105-97 (VCVL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D105-93 (VCPM) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D105-68 (VCS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B88-55 (VCPA) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B88-58 (VCP2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    7. Reconnect the throttle position sensor connector.

    8. Reconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector.

    9. Reconnect the fuel pressure sensor connector.

    10. Reconnect the accelerator pedal position sensor connector.

    11. Reconnect the ECM connector.
