DTC Code | DTC Name |
---|---|
P0489 | Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit Low |
P0490 | Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit High |
DESCRIPTION
The EGR actuator is operated by the ECM and opens and closes the EGR valve using gears. The opening angle of the EGR valve is detected by the EGR position sensor, which is mounted on the EGR body.
DTC Detection Drive Pattern | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |
---|---|---|
Idle the engine for 5 seconds or more | The EGR actuator current is below 0.5 A for 2.0 seconds during EGR valve operation. (1 trip detection logic). |

Tech Tips
Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
