CHASSIS GENERAL MAINTENANCE


  1. INSPECT POWER STEERING FLUID


    1. Inspect the power steering fluid Click here.

  2. INSPECT STEERING LINKAGE


    1. Check the steering linkage for looseness or damage.

      Check that:


      • Tie rod ends do not have excessive play.

      • Dust seals and boots are not damaged.

      • Boot clamps are not loose.

  3. INSPECT BALL JOINT AND DUST COVER


    1. Inspect the ball joints for excessive looseness.


      1. Jack up the front of the vehicle and place wooden blocks with a height of 180 to 200 mm (7.09 to 7.87 in.) under the front tires.

      2. Lower the jack until there becomes about half a load on the front coil spring. Place stands under the vehicle for safety.

      3. Check that the front wheels are pointing straight ahead, and block them with chocks.

      4. Using a lever, pry up the end of the lower arm, and check the amount of play.

        Maximum ball joint vertical play
        0 mm (0 in.)

        If there is any play, replace the ball joint.

    2. Check the dust cover for damage.

  4. INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID


    1. for A340E and A343E:


      1. Visually check the transmission for fluid leakage. If fluid is leaking, find the cause and repair it.

      2. Inspect the automatic transmission fluid.

    2. for AC60E:

      Visually check the transmission for fluid leakage. If fluid is leaking, find the cause and repair it.

  5. REPLACE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID


    1. for A340E and A343E:


      1. Drain the automatic transmission fluid.


      2. Add automatic transmission fluid.


      3. Inspect the automatic transmission fluid.


    2. for AC60E:

      Replace the automatic transmission fluid Click here.

  6. INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID COOLER HOSE AND CONNECTIONS (for AC60E)


    1. Check the automatic transmission fluid cooler hoses (oil cooler hoses) for cracks, leakage, loose connections and deformation.

  7. INSPECT MANUAL TRANSMISSION OIL


    1. Visually check the transmission for oil leakage. If oil is leaking, find the cause and repair it.

  8. REPLACE MANUAL TRANSMISSION OIL


    1. Replace the manual transmission oil.

  9. INSPECT DIFFERENTIAL OIL


    1. Visually check the differential for oil leakage. If oil is leaking, find the cause and repair it Click here.

  10. REPLACE DIFFERENTIAL OIL


    1. Replace the differential oil Click here.

  11. TIGHTEN PROPELLER SHAFT BOLTS


    1. Tighten the bolts for propeller shaft.
