RADIATOR REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER NO. 1 (w/ Engine Under Cover No. 1)

  2. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM (w/ Air Conditioning System)


    1. Start up the engine.

    2. Turn the A/C switch on.

    3. Operate the cooler compressor at an engine rpm of approximately 1,000 for 5 to 6 minutes to circulate the refrigerant and collect compressor oil remaining in each component into the cooler compressor as much as possible.

    4. Stop the engine.

    5. Using SST, let the refrigerant gas out.

  3. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

    CAUTION:

    Do not remove the radiator reservoir cap sub-assembly while the engine and radiator are still hot. Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.


    1. Loosen the radiator drain cock plug.

    2. Remove the radiator reservoir cap sub-assembly.

    3. Loosen the cylinder block drain cock plug (on the engine oil cooler cover), and drain the engine coolant.

    4. Tighten the radiator drain cock plug.

    5. Tighten the cylinder block drain cock plug (on the engine oil cooler cover).

      Torque:
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }
  4. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER REINFORCEMENT


  5. REMOVE HOOD LOCK SUPPORT BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 3 bolts and hood lock support brace sub-assembly.

  6. REMOVE W/ RECEIVER CONDENSER ASSEMBLY (w/ Air Conditioning System)

  7. REMOVE RADIATOR PROTECTOR (w/o Air Conditioning System)

      Remove the 4 bolts and radiator protector.

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR INLET DUCT (w/ Intercooler)

      Remove the 5 clips, 2 bolts, No. 1 air inlet duct and No. 2 air inlet duct.

  9. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SEAL (w/o Intercooler)

      Remove the 2 clips, 4 bolts and upper radiator support seal.

  10. REMOVE RADIATOR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY

      Slide the hose clamp and disconnect the water by-pass hose from the radiator reservoir assembly.

    2. Slide the hose clamp and disconnect the No. 2 water by-pass hose from the radiator reservoir assembly.

    3. Remove the bolt and radiator reservoir assembly.

  11. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the connector from the windshield washer motor and pump assembly.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and windshield washer motor and pump assembly.

    3. Detach the hose clamp.

    4. w/ Rear Wiper:

      Disconnect the 2 connectors and 2 washer hoses.

    5. w/o Rear Wiper:

      Disconnect the connector and washer hose.

  12. REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 3 bolts and disconnect the hood lock assembly.

    2. Disconnect the hood lock assembly from the hood lock control cable assembly.

  13. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Slide the hose clamp and disconnect the water by-pass hose from the radiator assembly.

    2. Detach the 2 clamps to disconnect the hood lock control cable assembly from the upper radiator support sub-assembly.

    3. Remove the 6 bolts and upper radiator support sub-assembly.

  14. REMOVE NO. 1 RADIATOR AIR GUIDE (for Wide Body)


    1. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 radiator air guide.

  15. REMOVE NO. 2 RADIATOR AIR GUIDE (for Wide Body)


    1. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 radiator air guide.

  16. REMOVE INTERCOOLER ASSEMBLY (w/ Intercooler)

      Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the No. 2 air hose.

    2. Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the No. 3 air hose.

    3. Remove the 3 bolts and intercooler.

  17. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER HOSE (for Automatic Transmission)

      Detach the 2 oil cooler hose clamps.

    2. Slide the 2 hose clamps and disconnect the 2 oil cooler hoses from the 2 oil cooler tubes.

  18. REMOVE FAN BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Detach the clamp.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and fan bracket sub-assembly.

  19. REMOVE FAN SHROUD

      w/ Air Conditioning System:

      Detach the 2 clamps and disconnect the 2 connectors.

    2. w/o Air Conditioning System:

      Detach the 3 clamps and disconnect the connector.

      Remove the 6 bolts and fan shroud from the underside of the vehicle.

  20. REMOVE NO. 2 FAN SHROUD


    1. Slide the hose clamp and disconnect the No. 2 water by-pass hose from the water by-pass pipe sub-assembly.

      Remove the bolt to disconnect the water by-pass pipe sub-assembly from the radiator assembly.

      Tech Tips

      This procedure is performed because the bolt of the water by-pass pipe sub-assembly interferes with the removal of the No. 2 fan shroud.

    3. A003HD7E02

      Remove the 2 bolts from the upper side of the vehicle, and then remove the No. 2 fan shroud from the underside of the vehicle.

      Tech Tips

      Do not damage the radiator assembly when removing the No. 2 fan shroud.

  21. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Slide the 2 hose clamps and disconnect the No. 2 radiator hose and No. 3 radiator hose from the radiator assembly.

      Remove the radiator assembly from the vehicle.

    3. Remove the 4 grommets from the radiator assembly.

  22. REMOVE OIL COOLER HOSE (for Automatic Transmission)

      Slide the 2 hose clamps and remove the 2 oil cooler hoses from the radiator assembly.

  23. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Slide the hose clamp and remove the water by-pass pipe sub-assembly from the radiator assembly.
