PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Retract Mirror)

    Component without harness connected

    (Outer Mirror Switch)


    1. Inspect the outer mirror switch assembly.


      1. Select "L" on the left/right adjustment switch.

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition

        6 (M+) - 12 (E)

        9 (VL) - 11 (B)

        Up Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

        6 (M+) - 11 (B)

        9 (VL) - 12 (E)

        Down Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

        6 (M+) - 12 (E)

        10 (HL) - 11 (B)

        Left Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

        6 (M+) - 11 (B)

        10 (HL) - 12 (E)

        Right Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

        If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror switch assembly.

      3. Select "R" on the left/right adjustment switch.

      4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition

        6 (M+) - 12 (E)

        8 (VR) - 11 (B)

        Up Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

        6 (M+) - 11 (B)

        8 (VR) - 12 (E)

        Down Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

        6 (M+) - 12 (E)

        7 (HR) - 11 (B)

        Left Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

        6 (M+) - 11 (B)

        7 (HR) - 12 (E)

        Right Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

        If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror switch.

    2. Inspect the retract switch.


      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition

        12 (E) - 14 (MF)

        11 (B) - 13 (MR)

        Pushed in Below 1 Ω

        12 (E) - 13 (MR)

        11 (B) - 14 (MF)

        Not pushed in 10 kΩ or higher

        If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror switch.

    3. Inspect the switch illumination.


      1. Apply battery voltage between the terminals of the switch, and check the switch illumination.

        OK
        Measurement Condition Specified Condition

        Battery positive (+) → Terminal 15 (ILL+)

        Battery negative (-) → Terminal 16 (ILL-)

        Switch illumination comes on

        If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror switch assembly.

  2. INSPECT OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/o Retract Mirror)

    1. Inspect the outer mirror switch assembly.


      1. Select "L" on the left/right adjustment switch.

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
        6 (M+) - 12 (E) Up Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher
        6 (M+) - 12 (E) Down Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher
        6 (M+) - 12 (E) Left Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher
        6 (M+) - 12 (E) Right Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

        If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror switch assembly.

      3. Select "R" on the left/right adjustment switch.

      4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition

        6 (M+) - 12 (E)

        8 (VR) - 11 (B)

        Up Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

        6 (M+) - 11 (B)

        8 (VR) - 12 (E)

        Down Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

        6 (M+) - 12 (E)

        7 (HR) - 11 (B)

        Left Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

        6 (M+) - 11 (B)

        7 (HR) - 12 (E)

        Right Pressed Below 1 Ω
        Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

        If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror switch.

    2. Inspect the switch illumination.


      1. Apply battery voltage between the terminals of the switch, and check the switch illumination.

        OK
        Measurement Condition Specified Condition

        Battery positive (+) → Terminal 15 (ILL+)

        Battery negative (-) → Terminal 16 (ILL-)

        Switch illumination comes on

        If the result is not as specified, replace the outer mirror switch assembly.
