Tech Tips


  • Before adjusting the door position for vehicles equipped with side airbags and curtain shield airbags, be sure to disconnect the battery. After adjustment, inspect the SRS warning light, side airbag system and curtain shield airbag system for normal operation.

  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

  • Centering bolts are used to mount the door hinge to the vehicle body and door. The door cannot be adjusted with the centering bolts on. Substitute the centering bolts with standard bolts when making adjustments.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT REAR DOOR (for Sedan)

    1. Check that the clearance measurements of areas A to N are within the standard range.

      E 3.5 to 6.5 mm (0.138 to 0.256 in.) L -1.5 to 1.5 mm (-0.0591 to 0.0591 in.)
      F 2.6 to 5.6 mm (0.102 to 0.221 in.) M 2.5 to 6.5 mm (0.0984 to 0.256 in.)
      G 3.5 to 6.5 mm (0.138 to 0.256 in.) N -2.0 to 2.0 mm (-0.0787 to 0.0787 in.)
  2. INSPECT REAR DOOR (for Wagon)

    1. Check that the clearance measurements of areas A to J are within the standard range.

  3. ADJUST REAR DOOR


    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      Note


      • w/ Navigation System (for HDD):

        After the ignition switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately a minute to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch off, wait a minute or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

    2. A004RASE01
      *1 for Sedan:
      *2 for Wagon:

      Loosen the hinge bolts on the body and adjust the door position.

    3. Tighten the hinge bolts on the body after the adjustment.

      Torque:
      26 N*m  { 265 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf }
    4. A004TB0E01
      *1 for Sedan:
      *2 for Wagon:

      Loosen the hinge bolts on the door and adjust the door position.

    5. Tighten the hinge bolts on the door after the adjustment.

      Torque:
      26 N*m  { 265 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf }
    6. Using a T40 "TORX" socket, adjust the striker position by slightly loosening the striker mounting screws and hitting the striker with a plastic-faced hammer.

    7. Using a T40 "TORX" socket, tighten the striker mounting screws after the adjustment.

      Torque:
      23 N*m  { 235 kgf*cm, 17 ft.*lbf }
    8. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

      Note

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

    9. Check the SRS warning light Click here.
