POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

    • The power window control system controls the power window up/down function using the door window regulator. The main controls of this system are the power window regulator master switch, which is built into the driver side door, and the power window regulator switches, which are built into the front passenger side door and rear doors.

    • Pressing either of the power window switches on the power window regulator switches or any of the power window switches on the power window regulator master switch transmits an up/down signal to the corresponding door window regulator.

    • An ECU is built into the door window regulator.

  2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT

The power window control system consists of the following components:

    Component Outline
    Power window regulator master switch
    • Controls power window operation for all windows.

    • When the window lock switch is in the on position, window operation will only be possible with the power window regulator master switch.

    Power window regulator switch
    • Located on the front passenger side door and rear doors.

    • Each power window switch controls power window operations for its respective window.

    Door window regulator
    • Receives power window switch signals and activates the motor to change the window position.

    • Uses the Hall IC in the regulator motor with ECU to detect the window position and jamming.

  3. SYSTEM FUNCTION

The power window control system has the following functions:

    Function Outline
Manual up/down function Function that raises a window while a power window switch is pulled halfway up, and lowers the window while a power window switch is pushed halfway down (the window stops as soon as the power window switch is released).

    Auto up/down function

    (All auto)

Function that enables a window to be fully opened or closed by one full push or pull of the power window switch.
Remote up/down function Function that allows the power window regulator master switch to control the front passenger side power window and rear power windows.
    Key-off operation function
    • Function that makes it possible to operate all power windows for approximately 45 sec. after the ignition switch is turned off when the front door has not been opened.

    • If 45 sec. have passed or the front door is opened while the auto function is operating, the window operation will continue until the auto function is completed.

    Jam protection function
    • Function that automatically stops a power window and moves it downward if an object is jammed in the power window.

    • The jam protection function works for the auto up and manual up operations.

Diagnosis Function where the ECU in the door window regulator detects malfunctions in the power window system and makes a diagnosis.
Fail-safe If the pulse sensor(s) (Hall IC(s)) in the door window regulator malfunctions, the power window auto up/down function is disabled.
