SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR(for Front Door) ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK NO. 2 SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (VEHICLE NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION)


    1. Perform a diagnostic system check Click here.

  2. CHECK NO. 2 SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG HAS NOT DEPLOYED)


    1. Perform a diagnostic system check Click here.

    2. When the front door of the vehicle or the surrounding area is damaged, check if there is any damage to the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly with a new one:


      • Cracks, dents or chips on the sensor housing.

      • Cracks or other damage to the connector.

      • Peeling of the label or damage to the serial number.

      CAUTION:

      For removal and installation procedures of the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly, be sure to follow the correct procedure.

  3. CHECK NO. 2 SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED)


    1. Replace the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly.

      CAUTION:


      • For removal and installation procedures of the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly, be sure to follow the correct procedure.

      • If the airbags have deployed, replace the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly on the side on which the collision occurred. Replace both if necessary.
