BRAKE ACTUATOR ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

  1. CONNECT GTS

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Start the engine and idle it.

    4. Turn the GTS on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Active Test.

  2. CHECK ACTUATOR MOTOR OPERATION

    Note

Do not keep the motor relay on for more than 5 seconds. If it needs to be operated consecutively, wait 20 seconds between each operation.

    1. Turn the motor relay on and check for actuator motor operation noise.

    2. Turn the motor relay off.

    3. Fully depress the brake pedal and hold it for approximately 15 seconds. Check that the initial depth of the brake pedal is maintained for the entire 15 seconds.

    4. Turn the motor relay on and check that the brake pedal does not pulsate.

    5. Turn the motor relay off and release the brake pedal.

  3. CHECK BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Front Right Wheel)

    Note

    • Be sure to follow the procedures below when turning on a solenoid.

    • Do not keep a solenoid on for more than 5 seconds. If it needs to be operated consecutively, wait 20 seconds between each operation.

    • The brake pedal must not be depressed if only the reduction solenoid SFRR, SFLR, SRRR or SRLR is turned on.

    1. With the brake pedal fully depressed, perform the following procedures:

      1. Turn the SFRH and SFRR solenoids on simultaneously, and check that the pedal cannot be depressed further.

      2. Turn the SFRH and SFRR solenoids off simultaneously, and check that the pedal can be depressed further.

      3. Turn the motor relay on. Check that the pedal returns to the "fully depressed" position.

    2. Turn the motor relay off and release the pedal.

  4. CHECK BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Front Left Wheel)

    1. Use the same procedure described for the front right wheel to check the solenoids of the front left wheel.

      Tech Tips

Solenoids for front left wheel: SFLH, SFLR.

  5. CHECK BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Rear Right Wheel)

    1. Use the same procedure described for the front right wheel to check the solenoids of the rear right wheel.

      Tech Tips

Solenoids for rear right wheel: SRRH, SRRR.

  6. CHECK BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Rear Left Wheel)

    1. Use the same procedure described for the front right wheel to check the solenoids of the rear left wheel.

      Tech Tips

Solenoids for rear left wheel: SRLH, SRLR.
