PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH


    1. A004R67

      Using needle-nose pliers, remove the inboard joint boot clamp, as shown in the illustration.

  2. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  3. REMOVE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

      Using pliers, remove the inboard joint boot clamp as shown in the illustration.

  4. REMOVE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

    1. Remove the boot from the inboard joint.

      Remove any old grease from the inboard joint.

    2. Put matchmarks on the inboard joint and outboard joint shaft.

      Note

      Do not punch the marks.

    3. Remove the inboard joint from the outboard joint shaft.

  9. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INNER SHAFT INNER SHAFT SNAP RING LH

      Using a snap ring expander, remove the shaft snap ring.

      Put matchmarks on the outboard joint shaft and tripod.

    3. Using a brass bar and hammer, tap off the tripod from the outboard joint shaft.

      Note

      Do not tap the rollers.

    4. Remove the inboard joint from the outboard joint shaft.

  11. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER CLAMP LH

      Using pliers, remove the drive shaft damper clamp as shown in the illustration.

  12. REMOVE DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER SETTING CLAMP

    1. Remove the front drive shaft damper from the outboard joint shaft.

      Using pliers, remove the axle outboard joint boot clamp as shown in the illustration.

    1. Remove the outboard joint boot from the outboard joint shaft.

    2. Remove any old grease from the outboard joint.

  21. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER LH

      Using SST and a press, press out the inboard joint to remove the dust cover.

      Note

      Be careful not to drop the inboard joint.
