HANDLING PRECAUTION FOR ROAD SIGN ASSIST SYSTEM
Under the following conditions, signs may not be displayed or the system may not operate.
Misalignment has occurred in the installation of the pre-crash safety city sensor
Mud, snow, ice, a sticker, etc. is stuck to the windshield in the pre-crash safety city sensor's field of view
During poor weather, such as heavy rain, heavy snow or dense fog
A bright light source is shining in front of the pre-crash safety city sensor
The sign is dirty, faded, angled, bent or has poor contrast (if electronic)
A part of the sign is concealed
After the pre-crash safety city sensor acquires the sign, the vehicle passes by too quickly
The driving scene is misjudged
Under the following conditions, the incorrect sign may be displayed or the system may not operate properly.
Speed limit signs on side roads may be detected and displayed (if positioned in the detection range of the front sensor) while traveling on a main road
Speed limit signs on roundabout exit roads may be detected and displayed (if positioned in the detection range of the front sensor) while traveling on a roundabout
The speed information displayed on the meter may differ from the speed information displayed on the navigation system (if equipped) due to the navigation system using map data
A sticker applied to the rear of the preceding vehicle is recognized as a sign
A shape resembling a supported sign is recognized
Immediately after moving over to a state or country with different speed limit units or driving directions
The driving scene is misjudged
PRECAUTION FOR TROUBLESHOOTING
If the malfunction is due to connectors being loosely connected, or improper installation of parts, reconnecting the connectors or removing and reinstalling the parts may temporarily or completely correct the problem.
The road sign assist system may be affected by malfunctions in other systems. Check for DTCs in other systems and, if present, troubleshoot those DTCs first.
PRECAUTION FOR REPLACING PRE-CRASH SAFETY CITY SENSOR
When replacing the pre-crash safety city sensor with a new one, it is necessary to perform "Recognition Camera/Target Position Memory" and "Beam Axis Learning".
Perform adjustment with either "ONE TIME RECOGNITION" or "SEQUENTIAL RECOGNITION".
ONE TIME RECOGNITION: Click here
SEQUENTIAL RECOGNITION: Click here
If the system is operated when "Recognition Camera/Target Position Memory" and "Beam Axis Learning" have not been performed, C1AA9 is output Click here
When replacing the pre-crash safety city sensor, replace it with a new one. If an ECU which was installed to another vehicle is used, the information stored in the pre-crash safety city sensor will not match the information from the vehicle and, as a result, a DTC may be output.
When replacing or removing and installing the pre-crash safety city sensor, do not damage the camera lens or allow it to become contaminated with foreign matter.
Do not reuse a pre-crash safety city sensor that has been dropped or subjected to a strong impact.
PRECAUTION FOR REPLACING WINDSHIELD GLASS
When performing removal, installation or replacement of the windshield glass, it is necessary to perform "Recognition Camera/Target Position Memory" and "Beam Axis Learning".
Perform adjustment with either "ONE TIME RECOGNITION" or "SEQUENTIAL RECOGNITION".

SEQUENTIAL RECOGNITION: Click here
When replacing the windshield glass of a vehicle equipped with a pre-crash safety city sensor, make sure to use a Toyota genuine part. If a non-Toyota genuine part is used, the pre-crash safety city sensor may not be able to be installed due to a missing bracket or the pre-crash safety system may not operate properly due to a difference in the transmissivity or black ceramic border.
Do not attach stickers, including transparent stickers, or other items to the outer side of the windshield glass within the area shown in the illustration in front of the pre-crash safety city sensor.
Vertical range: from the top of the windshield glass to approximately 10 cm (3.94 in.) below the bottom of the pre-crash safety city sensor.
Horizontal range: approximately 10 cm (3.94 in.) to the left and right of the center of the pre-crash safety city sensor.
Do not install or attach anything to the inner side of the windshield glass within the area shown in the illustration below the pre-crash safety city sensor.
Vertical range: from the bottom of the pre-crash safety city sensor to approximately 10 cm (3.94 in.) below the pre-crash safety city sensor.
Horizontal range: approximately 10 cm (3.94 in.) to the left and right of the center of the pre-crash safety city sensor.
Do not attach window tint to the windshield glass.
