DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM ROAD TEST

Tech Tips

The dynamic radar cruise control system has 2 cruise control modes: the constant speed control mode and vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode.

  • The vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode is always selected when starting up the dynamic radar cruise control system.

  • Operation of the constant speed control mode is the same as the cruise control system.

  1. INSPECT SET SWITCH

    1. A004TBC

Push the cruise control switch on.

    2. Drive the vehicle at a desired speed (between 50 km/h and 170 km/h [30 mph and 105 mph]).

    3. A004NM7

Press the cruise control switch to -SET.

    4. After releasing the switch, check that the vehicle cruises at the desired speed.

  2. INSPECT "+" SWITCH

    1. A004TBC

Push the cruise control switch on.

    2. Drive the vehicle at a desired speed (between 50 km/h and 170 km/h [30 mph and 105 mph]).

    3. A004NM7

Press the cruise control switch to -SET.

    4. A004O8J

Check that vehicle speed increases while cruise control switch is pushed to +RES, and that the vehicle cruises at the set speed when the released.

    5. Constant speed control mode:

Momentarily press the cruise control switch upward to +RES and immediately release it. Check that the vehicle speed increases by about 1.6 km/h (1 mph) (Tap-up function).

    6. Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode:

Momentarily press the cruise control switch upward to +RES and immediately release it. Check that the vehicle speed increases by about 5 km/h or 5 mph (Tap-up function).

  3. INSPECT "-" SWITCH

    1. A004TBC

Push the cruise control switch on.

    2. Drive the vehicle at a desired speed (between 50 km/h and 170 km/h [30 mph and 105 mph]).

    3. A004NM7

Press the cruise control switch to -SET.

    4. Check that vehicle speed decreases while the cruise control switch is pressed down to -SET and that the vehicle cruises at the set speed when the cruise control switch is released.

    5. Constant speed control mode:

Momentarily press the cruise control switch downward to -SET and immediately release it. Check that the vehicle speed decreases by about 1.6 km/h (1 mph) (Tap-down function).

    6. Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode:

Momentarily press the cruise control switch downward to -SET and immediately release it. Check that the vehicle speed decreases by about 5 km/h or 5 mph (Tap-down function).

  4. INSPECT CANCEL FUNCTION (CANCEL SWITCH)

    1. A004TBC

Push the cruise control switch on.

    2. Drive the vehicle at a desired speed (between 50 km/h and 170 km/h [30 mph and 105 mph]).

    3. A004NM7

Press the cruise control switch to -SET.

    4. When performing one of the following, check that the cruise control system is canceled and that the normal driving mode is set:

      • Depressing the brake pedal

      • Moving the shift lever to any position except D

      • Driving the vehicle while the vehicle stability control system is operating

      • A004T7D

Pulling the cruise control switch to CANCEL

      • A004TBC

Pushing the cruise control switch off

  5. INSPECT RES (RESUME) SWITCH

    1. A004TBC

Push the cruise control switch on.

    2. Drive the vehicle at a desired speed (between 50 km/h and 170 km/h [30 mph and 105 mph]).

    3. A004NM7

Press the cruise control switch to -SET.

    4. Cancel the cruise control system by performing one of the following:

      • Depressing the brake pedal

      • Driving the vehicle while the vehicle stability control system is operating

      • Moving the shift lever to any position except D

      • A004T7D

Pulling the cruise control switch to CANCEL

    5. A004O8J

After the cruise control switch is pressed to +RES at a driving speed of more than 40 km/h (25 mph), check that the vehicle restores the speed set before the cancellation.
