ECD SYSTEM(for CCo), Diagnostic DTC:P0489, P0490

DTC Code DTC Name
P0489 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit Low
P0490 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit High

DESCRIPTION

The EGR actuator is operated by the ECM and opens and closes the EGR valve using gears. The opening angle of the EGR valve is detected by the EGR position sensor, which is mounted on the EGR body.

P0489
DTC Detection Drive Pattern DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
Idle the engine for 5 seconds or more

The EGR actuator current is below 0.5 A for 2.0 seconds during EGR valve operation.

(1 trip detection logic).

  • Open or short in EGR valve circuit

  • EGR valve assembly

  • ECM

P0490
DTC Detection Drive Pattern DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
Idle the engine for 5 seconds or more

An EGR actuator current of 8 A or higher due to a mechanical malfunction, or a Hall IC temperature of 150 to 160°C (302 to 320°F) or higher is detected.

(1 trip detection logic):

  • Open or short in EGR valve circuit

  • EGR valve assembly

  • ECM
