FRONT WIPER MOTOR INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for LHD and RHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY

      *1 Wiper Cushion

      Attach the wiper cushion to the body and install the wiper motor and link assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.

    2. Install the 2 bolts in the order indicated in the illustration.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }

    3. Connect the connector.

  2. INSTALL NO. 2 HEATER AIR DUCT SPLASH SHIELD SEAL


    1. Install the No. 2 heater air duct splash shield seal.

  3. INSTALL NO. 1 HEATER AIR DUCT SPLASH SHIELD SEAL


    1. Install the No. 1 heater air duct splash shield seal.

  4. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER LH


    1. A005826

      Attach the 5 claws to install the cowl top ventilator louver LH.

    2. A0056MR

      Attach the 3 claws and 3 guides.

    3. Install the clip.

  5. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH


    1. A0053X0

      Attach the 6 claws to install the cowl top ventilator louver RH.

    2. A0053BV

      Attach the 5 claws and 3 guides.

    3. Install the clip.

  6. INSTALL HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL


    1. A00560S

      Attach the 6 clips and 2 claws to install the hood to cowl top seal.

  7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  8. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH


    1. When reinstalling:

      Note

      Do not grind the serrations excessively.

        *b Wiper Pivot Serrations

        Clean the wiper arm serrations.

      2. Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.

    2. Operate the wiper switch and stop the front wiper motor and link assembly at the automatic stop (park) position.

      *1 Louver Edge

      Install the front wiper arm and blade assembly RH to the position shown in the illustration with the nut.

      Torque:
      26 N*m  { 265 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Hold the arm hinge by hand when tightening the nut.

      Standard
      Area Specified Condition
      A 27.6 to 42.6 mm (1.09 to 1.68 in.)
      B 34.5 to 49.5 mm (1.36 to 1.95 in.)

    4. Operate the front wipers while spraying washer fluid on the windshield glass. Make sure that the front wipers function properly and the wipers do not come into contact with the vehicle body.

    5. Raise the wiper arm 2 times and check that the tip of the front wiper blade is at the position shown in the illustration.

  9. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH


    1. When reinstalling:

      Note

      Do not grind the serrations excessively.

      2. Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.

      Install the front wiper arm and blade assembly LH to the position shown in the illustration with the nut.

      Torque:
      26 N*m  { 265 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Hold the arm hinge by hand when tightening the nut.

      A 34.5 to 49.5 mm (1.36 to 1.95 in.)
      B 27.6 to 42.6 mm (1.09 to 1.68 in.)

    4. Operate the front wipers while spraying washer fluid on the windshield glass. Make sure that the front wipers function properly and the wipers do not come into contact with the vehicle body.

    5. Raise the wiper arm 2 times and check that the tip of the front wiper blade is at the position shown in the illustration.

  10. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP


    1. A00532U

      Install the front wiper arm head cap.

      Use the same procedure for both front wiper arm head caps.
