B2799 Engine Immobiliser System Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is stored when one of the following occurs: 1) the ECM detected errors in its own communications with the transponder key ECU; 2) the ECM detects errors in the communication lines; or 3) the ECU - ECM communication ID between the transponder key ECU and ECM is different and an engine start is attempted. Before troubleshooting for this DTC, make sure no engine immobiliser DTCs are output. If output, troubleshoot the engine immobiliser DTCs first.

  • An error in communication between the ECM and transponder key ECU.

  • An error in the communication lines.

  • The ECU - ECM communication ID is different during communication with the transponder key ECU.

  3. REREGISTER ECU - ECM COMMUNICATION ID


    1. Reregister the ECU - ECM communication ID.

  6. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the ECM and the transponder key ECU.

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSPONDER KEY ECU - ECM)

    1. Disconnect the D102 ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the A40 ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D102-13 (EFIO) - A40-11 (IMI) Always Below 1 Ω
      D102-12 (EFII) - A40-10 (IMO)
      D102-13 (EFIO) or A40-11 (IMI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D102-12 (EFII) or A40-10 (IMO) - Body ground

  8. REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY ECU


    1. Temporarily replace the transponder key ECU with a new one.
