POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT

    Components Function
Power window regulator master switch assembly The door control switch on the power window regulator master switch assembly locks/unlocks all doors.
Door courtesy light switch assembly Turns on when the door is open and off when the door is closed. Outputs the door status (open or closed) to the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly).
Front door lock assembly (for Driver Side)
    • The built-in motor locks/unlocks the door.

    • The built-in key-linked switch detects the door key cylinder status (lock or unlock) and outputs the data to the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly).

    • The built-in position switch detects the door status (locked or unlocked) and outputs the data to the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly). This switch turns off when the door is locked and on when the door is unlocked.

Front door lock assembly (for Front Passenger Side)

    Rear door lock assembly LH

    Rear door lock assembly RH

    Back door lock assembly*

    • The built-in motor locks/unlocks the door.

    • The built-in position switch detects the door status (locked or unlocked) and outputs the data to the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly). This switch turns off when the door is locked and on when the door is unlocked.

Door control battery The door control battery supplies power to the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly) when the vehicle battery and/or power source circuit of the vehicle battery are malfunctioning.

  2. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

    1. The power door lock system locks/unlocks all doors.

      • The door control switch of the master switch uses the LIN communication line to send lock/unlock request signals to the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly).

      • The driver door key cylinder lock/unlock request signals are sent to the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly) from the driver side door lock.

      • The main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly) receives the request signals and locks/unlocks each door.

The door control system has the following functions:

      Function Outline
Manual lock and unlock function Locks/unlocks all the doors by the door control switch lock operation (manual operation).
      Key-linked lock and unlock function

Linked with the door key cylinder.

Locks/unlocks the driver side door when the lock/unlock operation is possible.

      Key lock-in prevention function

When the door control transmitter is in the vehicle, performing the door lock operation with the lock switch on the outer handle will not lock the door and will sound a buzzer.*1

When the key is inserted in the ignition key cylinder and the door lock operation is performed, all the doors are unlocked.*2

Collision door lock release If the SRS has been deployed and the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly) has detected the signal that is output from the airbag sensor, the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly) unlocks all the doors.
      Speed-sensitive automatic door lock function

When the conditions listed below are met consecutively, this function causes all the doors to be automatically locked.

      • All the doors are closed.

      • Any one of the doors is unlocked.

      • The vehicle speed is higher than approximately 20 km/h (12 mph).

      Shift-linked automatic door lock*3, *4

When all the conditions listed below are met, this function causes all the doors to automatically lock:

      • The ignition switch is ON.

      • All the doors are closed.

      • The shift lever is moved out of P.

Shift-linked automatic door unlock*3, *4 When the ignition switch is ON, if the shift lever is moved to P from any other position, all the doors are automatically unlocked.
Door open-linked automatic door unlock When the driver side door is opened within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned off, the other doors are unlocked.
Main/sub source switch function When an impact is detected, a relay inside the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly) is operated to switch the power source of the door lock assembly from the vehicle battery to the door control battery.
      Double locking function*5

This system prevents the doors from being unlocked by the operation of the inside door knobs. The doors cannot be opened from the inside or outside of the vehicle.

Pressing the transmitter's lock switch twice within 5 seconds activates this system and locks the doors. If the battery of the transmitter is depleted, only the driver's door can be opened with the key; however, doing so causes the theft deterrent system alarm to sound.

      CAUTION:

The doors cannot be opened from the inside of vehicle. Never activate this system when someone is inside the vehicle. If this system is activated accidentally, press the transmitter's UNLOCK switch.
