REAR VIEW MONITOR SYSTEM(for Inner Rear View Mirror Type) SYSTEM DESCRIPTION



  1. GENERAL


    1. This system has a television camera mounted on the back door to assist the driver in parking the vehicle by displaying an image of the area behind the vehicle. The system displays the image on the inner rear view mirror assembly.

    2. This system consists of the following components:


      1. Inner rear view mirror assembly

      2. Rear television camera assembly

      3. Park/Neutral position switch assembly*1

      4. Back-up light switch assembly*2

  2. FUNCTION OF COMPONENTS


    1. The inner rear view mirror assembly controls the system by using information from the following components:

      Item Function
      Rear Television Camera Assembly

      • Captures the view behind the vehicle and transmits the image to the inner rear view mirror assembly.

      • Has a color video camera that uses a Charge Coupled Device (CCD) and a wide-angle lens.
      Inner Rear View Mirror Assembly

      • Receives video signals, which contain images of the area behind the vehicle taken with the rear television camera assembly.

      • Performs control of the system by receiving the shift position signal from the park/neutral position switch assembly.

      • Displays the rear view monitor image on the display panel.

      • Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly*1

      • Back-up Light Switch Assembly*2

      		 Transmits a reverse shift position signal to the inner rear view mirror assembly.

  3. OPERATION EXPLANATION

      The inner rear view mirror assembly receives the reverse shift position signal when the shift lever is moved to R. After receiving the reverse shift position signal, the inner rear view mirror assembly displays the rear view monitor image from the rear television camera assembly. (LED: Green)

      Tech Tips


      • When the shift lever is moved to any position except R, the display is turned off. Also, the display is automatically turned off after 5 minutes of continuous operation.

      • When the image from the rear television camera assembly is displayed, the display can be turned off by pressing the AUTO button. (LED: Green → Amber) The image can be re-displayed by pressing the AUTO button once again. (LED: Amber → Green)

    2. The operation conditions of the rear view monitor system are as follows:


      1. Ignition switch is ON

      2. Shift lever is in R

      3. The LED on the inner rear view mirror assembly is green (the LED color changes by pressing the AUTO button).
