  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      Install the lock nut and tie rod end sub-assembly LH to the steering gear so that the matchmarks align.

      Tech Tips

      After adjusting toe-in, tighten the lock nut to the specified torque.

  2. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  3. INSTALL STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the steering link assembly to the front suspension crossmember with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      110 N*m  { 1122 kgf*cm, 81 ft.*lbf }

      Note


      • Make sure to tighten the bolts starting from the left side of the vehicle.

      • Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Tighten the bolt with the nut fixed in place.

  4. INSTALL STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT

      Align the matchmarks and install the steering intermediate shaft to the steering link.

    2. Install a new bolt.

      Torque:
      35 N*m  { 357 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf }
  5. INSTALL NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Align the round hole in the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly with the protrusion of the steering link and install the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly.

  6. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  7. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE LH

  8. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE RH

  9. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  10. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

  11. CONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A0055J5

      Connect the tie rod end sub-assembly LH to the steering knuckle with the nut.

      Torque:
      49 N*m  { 500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Tighten the nut up to an additional 60° if the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned.

    2. Install a new cotter pin.

  24. CONNECT NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Attach clip B to the body and install the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly to the body with clip A.

      Note

      Make sure that the lip of the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly is not damaged.

  25. CONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

  26. INSTALL COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET

  27. INSTALL FRONT WHEELS

    Torque:
    103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }
  28. ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
