Note


  • Before performing work, turn the ignition switch off and wait approximately 20 seconds to make sure that the parking brake cannot operate.

  • When replacing the parking brake with bracket actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration Click here.

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

Tech Tips

The condition may be that the electric parking brake is operating normally but the PARK warning light in the combination meter is malfunctioning.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (FULL RELEASE MODE)


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    3. Select the Data List mode on the GTS Click here.

    4. Check the electric parking brake mode in the Data List.

    PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (PKB RELEASE1, PKB LOCK1) Click here

  2. CANCEL FULL RELEASE MODE


    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. Press and hold the electric parking brake switch for 5 seconds to cancel full release mode.

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (PKB RELEASE1, PKB LOCK1)


    1. Perform the Active Test of the electric parking brake ECU using the GTS Click here.

    2. Check if the parking brake actuator operates with the GTS.

    3. Check the PARK warning light condition.

  4. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (PKB LIGHT)


    1. Perform the Active Test of the electric parking brake ECU using the GTS Click here.

    2. Check the condition of the PARK warning light by operating the tester.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE ECU - COMBINATION METER)


    1. Disconnect the I1 electric parking brake ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the D140 combination meter connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I1-21 (TX) - D140-4 (TX+) Always Below 1 Ω
      I1-21 (TX) - Body ground Always 100 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (+B TERMINAL)


    1. Disconnect the electric parking brake ECU connector.
