PRE-CRASH SAFETY SYSTEM Laser Sensor Inspection

DESCRIPTION

The pre-crash safety city sensor uses the laser radar sensor to measure the distance to a preceding vehicle.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

  • When replacing the pre-crash safety city sensor, replace it with a new one. If an ECU which was installed to another vehicle is used, the information stored in the pre-crash safety city sensor will not match the information from the vehicle and, as a result, a DTC may be output.

  • When replacing the pre-crash safety city sensor with a new one, or performing removal, installation or replacement of the windshield glass, always perform "Recognition Camera/Target Position Memory" and "Beam Axis Learning".

Perform adjustment with either "ONE TIME RECOGNITION" or "SEQUENTIAL RECOGNITION".

Position the vehicles as shown in the illustration and measure the distance to the preceding vehicle.

      CAUTION:

Perform the measurement inside the vehicle or somewhere backlighting will not directly contact the pre-crash safety city sensor (laser radar sensor).

      Tech Tips

      • Make sure that the distance from the pre-crash safety city sensor (laser radar sensor) to the edge of the rear bumper of the preceding vehicle is 3 m (9.84 ft.).

      • Make sure that the distance from the pre-crash safety city sensor (laser radar sensor) to the edge of the bumper of this vehicle is 1.33 m (4.36 ft.).

      • The Data List displays the distance from the pre-crash safety sensor (laser radar sensor) to the preceding vehicle.

      • Make sure that the preceding vehicle has not been modified.

Lidar Detect Target Distance Displays distance of the highest priority object which is detected by Lidar / 0 to 51.0 m Measured distance to preceding vehicle
      • Displays 0 m when a preceding vehicle is not detected.

      • Displays the distance from the pre-crash safety city sensor (laser sensor) to the preceding vehicle.

      Tech Tips

If a vehicle is positioned in front and the Data List displays 0 m, the pre-crash safety city sensor (laser radar sensor) is malfunctioning.
