DESCRIPTION

The rear airbag sensor LH and No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly LH consists of a safing sensor, diagnostic circuit, lateral deceleration sensor, etc.

If the airbag sensor assembly receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.

DTC B1635/24 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the rear airbag sensor LH circuit.

DTC B1695/16 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly LH circuit.

  • The airbag sensor assembly detects a line short circuit signal, open circuit signal, short circuit to ground signal or short circuit to B+ signal in the rear airbag sensor LH circuit for 2 seconds.

  • A rear airbag sensor LH malfunction.

  • A No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly LH malfunction.

  • An airbag sensor malfunction.

One of the following conditions is met:


  • The airbag sensor assembly detects a line short circuit signal, open circuit signal, short circuit to ground signal or short circuit to B+ signal in the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly LH circuit for 2 seconds.

  • A rear airbag sensor LH malfunction.

  • A No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly LH malfunction.

  • An airbag sensor malfunction.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag sensor assembly and rear airbag sensor LH.

      OK
      The connectors are properly connected.

  2. CHECK CONNECTORS

      Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assembly and rear airbag sensor LH.

    2. Check that the connectors (on the airbag sensor assembly side and rear airbag sensor LH side) are not damaged.

      OK
      The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

  3. CHECK FLOOR WIRE


    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    4. Turn the ignition switch off.

    5. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    6. Using a service wire, connect terminals 24 (BBL+) and 23 (BBL-) of connector B.

      Note

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.

    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    8. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.

    9. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Connect the connectors to the airbag sensor assembly.

    2. Interchange the rear airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.

    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    5. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Click here.

    6. Turn the ignition switch off.

    7. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    8. Check for DTCs Click here.

    9. Turn the ignition switch off.

    10. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    11. Return the rear airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
