SFI SYSTEM Fuel Injector Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The fuel injectors are located on the intake manifold. They inject fuel into the cylinders based on the signals from the ECM.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY (POWER SOURCE)

      (to Fuel Injector Assembly)

      Disconnect the fuel injector assembly connectors.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      B10-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      B11-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      B12-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      B13-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Turn the ignition switch off.

    4. Reconnect the fuel injector assembly connectors.

  2. INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY - ECM)


    1. Disconnect the fuel injector assembly connectors.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B10-2 - B39-86 (#10) Always Below 1 Ω
      B11-2 - B39-85 (#20) Always Below 1 Ω
      B12-2 - B39-84 (#30) Always Below 1 Ω
      B13-2 - B39-83 (#40) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B10-2 or B39-86 (#10) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B11-2 or B39-85 (#20) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B12-2 or B39-84 (#30) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B13-2 or B39-83 (#40) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the fuel injector assembly connectors.

    5. Reconnect the ECM connector.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INTEGRATION RELAY (IGT/INJ RELAY) - FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the fuel injector assembly connectors.

    2. Remove the integration relay from the engine room No. 1 relay block.

    3. Disconnect the integration relay connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B10-1 - 1B-8 Always Below 1 Ω
      B11-1 - 1B-8 Always Below 1 Ω
      B12-1 - 1B-8 Always Below 1 Ω
      B13-1 - 1B-8 Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B10-1 or 1B-8 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B11-1 or 1B-8 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B12-1 or 1B-8 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B13-1 or 1B-8 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    5. Reconnect the fuel injector connector.

    6. Reinstall the integration relay.

    7. Reconnect the integration relay connector.

  5. INSPECT INTEGRATION RELAY (IGT/INJ RELAY)

      Component without harness connected

      (Integration Relay)

      Remove the integration relay from the engine room No. 1 relay block.

    2. Disconnect the integration relay connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1C-1 - 1B-8 Battery voltage not applied to terminals 1B-6 and 1B-7 10 kΩ or higher
      Battery voltage applied to terminals 1B-6 and 1B-7 Below 1 Ω
    4. Reconnect the integration relay connector.

    5. Reinstall the integration relay.

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INTEGRATION RELAY (IGT/INJ RELAY) - INTEGRATION RELAY (EFI MAIN RELAY), BODY GROUND)


    1. Remove the integration relay from the engine room No. 1 relay block.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1B-4 - 1B-6 Always Below 1 Ω
      1B-7 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1B-4 or 1B-6 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Reconnect the integration relay connector.

    4. Reinstall the integration relay.
