LANE DEPARTURE ALERT SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. LANE DEPARTURE ALERT SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

    1. When driving on roads with white (or yellow) lines, when the system determines that the vehicle may deviate from the current driving lane, it informs the driver of the potential deviation with a buzzer and a display on the combination meter assembly.

    2. The system is equipped with a last memory function, which stores the switch condition of the lane departure alert switch of the steering pad switch assembly when the engine stops and allows the system to begin in that condition when the engine is started again.

  2. FUNCTION OF COMPONENTS

    Component Function
    Pre-crash Safety City Sensor
    • Acquires information about the road ahead from a monocular camera and controls the lane departure alert system.

    • Sends signals to display information on the multi-information display in the combination meter, illuminate the LDA indicator and sound the meter buzzer based on lane departure alert system control information.

    • Determines the condition of the lane departure alert switch of the steering pad switch assembly

Lane Departure Alert Main Switch Stops and starts the lane departure alert system.
    Combination Meter Assembly
    • Displays the control condition (ON/OFF) and warning sensitivity of the lane departure alert system.

    • During a system malfunction, warns the driver by displaying a message in the multi-information display according to the nature of the problem in the system, illuminating the master warning light and sounding the meter buzzer.

    • Sends the meter tolerance values and turn signal condition to the pre-crash safety city sensor.

Brake Actuator Assembly (Skid Control ECU) Sends the wheel speed signals to the pre-crash safety city sensor.
Spiral with Sensor Cable Sub-assembly Detects the steering angle and steering direction.
Yaw Rate Sensor Sends yaw rate sensor signals to the pre-crash safety city sensor.
  3. LANE DEPARTURE ALERT SYSTEM CONTROL

    1. Lane departure alert system start-up conditions

      1. The lane departure alert system operates when the following conditions are met.

        System Start-up Conditions
Lane departure alert main switch ON
Vehicle speed within operating range for lane departure alert system
        Lane recognized
        Turn signals not being operated
        No system malfunctions detected
    2. Lane departure alert system operation conditions

      1. The lane departure alert system operates while the vehicle is in the following conditions.

Operating speed Approximately 50 km/h or more
Operating lane width Approximately 3.0 m or more
Operating radius On a straight road or slight curve (with a radius of approximately 150 m or more)
    3. Temporary function cancellation during lane departure alert system operation

      1. The lane departure alert system is temporarily canceled when the following conditions (cancellation conditions) are detected.

      2. The lane departure alert system restarts when the following conditions (recovery conditions) are met.

        Cancellation Conditions Recovery Conditions
Vehicle speed outside operating range for lane departure alert system Vehicle speed within operating range for lane departure alert system
Turn signals being operated Turn signals not being operated
        Lane not recognized Lane recognized
Immediately after lane departure alert sounds In-lane driving recognized several seconds after lane departure alert operates
    4. Lane departure alert system stop/restart

      1. The lane departure alert system stops when the following conditions (stop conditions) are detected.

      2. The lane departure alert system restarts when the following conditions (restart conditions) are met.

        Stop Conditions Restart Condition
Lane departure alert main switch OFF Lane departure alert main switch ON
Lane departure alert system temporarily canceled Normal condition confirmed
Lane departure alert system malfunction detected
        • Normal condition confirmed after engine start-up

        • Recovered from communication malfunction between pre-crash safety city sensor and connected ECU

        • Recovered from other malfunction between pre-crash safety city sensor and connected ECU
