  1. IGNITION SWITCH EXPRESSION

    The type of ignition switch used on this model differs according to the specifications of the vehicle. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.

  2. PRECAUTION FOR TROUBLESHOOTING


    1. If the malfunction is due to connectors being loosely connected, or improper installation of parts, reconnecting the connectors or removing and reinstalling the parts may temporarily or completely correct the problem.

    2. In order to determine the malfunctioning area, use DTC output and other data to check vehicle conditions at the time of the malfunction and write down the data before disconnecting connectors or removing and reinstalling parts.

    3. Be sure to check and record all current and past DTCs output due to malfunctions in other systems as the lane departure alert system may be affected by these malfunctions.

  3. HANDLING PRECAUTION


    1. Unless otherwise specified in the procedure, turn the ignition switch off before removing or installing ECUs and sensors.

    2. After the removal and installation of an ECU or sensor, check that DTCs are not output.

  4. PRECAUTION FOR REPLACING PRE-CRASH SAFETY CITY SENSOR


    1. When replacing the pre-crash safety city sensor with a new one, it is necessary to perform "Recognition Camera/Target Position Memory" and "Beam Axis Learning".

      Perform adjustment with either "ONE TIME RECOGNITION" or "SEQUENTIAL RECOGNITION".


      If the system is operated when "Recognition Camera/Target Position Memory" and "Beam Axis Learning" have not been performed, C1AA9 is output Click here.

    2. When replacing the pre-crash safety city sensor, replace it with a new one. If an ECU which was installed to another vehicle is used, the information stored in the pre-crash safety city sensor will not match the information from the vehicle and, as a result, a DTC may be output.

    3. When replacing or removing and installing the precrash safety city sensor, do not damage the camera lens or allow it to become contaminated with foreign matter.

    4. Do not reuse a pre-crash safety city sensor that has been dropped or subjected to a strong impact.

  5. PRECAUTION FOR REPLACING WINDSHIELD GLASS


    1. When performing removal, installation or replacement of the windshield glass, it is necessary to perform "Recognition Camera/Target Position Memory" and "Beam Axis Learning".

      Perform adjustment with either "ONE TIME RECOGNITION" or "SEQUENTIAL RECOGNITION".


    2. When replacing the windshield glass of a vehicle equipped with a pre-crash safety city sensor, make sure to use a Toyota genuine part. If a non-Toyota genuine part is used, the pre-crash safety city sensor may not be able to be installed due to a missing bracket or the pre-crash safety system may not operate properly due to a difference in the transmissivity or black ceramic border.

      Do not attach stickers, including transparent stickers, or other items to the outer side of the windshield glass within the area shown in the illustration in front of the pre-crash safety city sensor.


      • Vertical range: from the top of the windshield glass to approximately 10 cm (3.94 in.) below the bottom of the pre-crash safety city sensor.

      • Horizontal range: approximately 10 cm (3.94 in.) to the left and right of the center of the pre-crash safety city sensor.

      Do not install or attach anything to the inner side of the windshield glass within the area shown in the illustration below the pre-crash safety city sensor.


      • Vertical range: from the bottom of the pre-crash safety city sensor to approximately 10 cm (3.94 in.) below the pre-crash safety city sensor.

      • Horizontal range: approximately 10 cm (3.94 in.) to the left and right of the center of the pre-crash safety city sensor.

    5. Do not attach window tint to the windshield glass.
