  1. REMOVE FAN SHROUD

    1. A01DP8Q

      Loosen the 4 nuts holding the fluid coupling fan.

    2. Remove the vane pump V belt and the fan and generator V belt Click here.

    3. A01DPJX

      Remove the 2 bolts holding the fan shroud.

    4. Remove the 4 nuts of the fluid coupling fan, and then remove the shroud together with the coupling fan.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the radiator core.

    5. Remove the fan pulley from the water pump.

  2. INSPECT WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY

    Tech Tips

    • The sliding surface inside the engine water pump assembly is lubricated by engine coolant. As some engine coolant is discharged during normal operation, coolant residue (solids) may be found on the air hole or the bottom of the engine water pump assembly. Engine coolant may leak if foreign matter enters the engine water pump assembly, however the sealing performance will recover when the foreign matter is pushed out or breaks into fine pieces.

    • Before performing this inspection, check that there is no coolant leaking from any parts other than the engine water pump assembly. If there are leaks, inspect those areas.

    • Perform this inspection when the engine is cold.

      Visually check the engine water pump assembly.

      1. Check that engine coolant is not dripping from the engine water pump assembly.

        Tech Tips

        • If engine coolant is dripping, replace the engine water pump assembly.

        • If engine coolant is not dripping, perform the following check.

    2. Turn the pulley, and check that the pump bearing moves smoothly and quietly.

      If the bearing moves roughly or noisily, replace the water pump assembly.

  3. INSPECT FLUID COUPLING ASSEMBLY

    1. A01DRUV

      Remove the 4 nuts and fan.

    2. A01DMCW

      Check the fluid coupling for damage or silicon oil leaks. If necessary, replace the fluid coupling.

    3. Install the fan with the 4 nuts.

      Torque:
      6.5 N*m  { 66 kgf*cm, 58 in.*lbf }
  4. INSTALL FAN SHROUD

    1. Install the fan pulley to the water pump.

    2. Install the shroud together with the coupling fan between the radiator and engine.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the radiator core.

    3. Temporarily install the fluid coupling fan to the fan pulley with the 4 nuts. Tighten the nuts as much as possible by hand.

    4. A01DNBQ

      Attach the claws of the shroud as shown in the illustration.

    5. Install the shroud with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      5.0 N*m  { 51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf }
    6. Install the fan and generator V belt and vane pump V belt Click here.

    7. Tighten the 4 nuts of the fluid coupling fan.

      Torque:
      19 N*m  { 189 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf }
