KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

PRECAUTION

DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

Note

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.
REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
1. Disengage the 3 clips, 7 claws and guide, and remove the front door scuff plate LH.
REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
1. Remove the clip.
2. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the cowl side trim sub-assembly LH.
REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL
1. Remove the bolt <C> and screw <E> or <F>.
2. Disengage the claw and 9 clips.
3. Disconnect the connectors.
4. Disconnect the connector and aspirator duct.
5. Disconnect the hood lock control cable and remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel finish panel.
REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
CAUTION:

When storing the driver side knee airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.
1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  
  CAUTION:
  
  Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
3. Remove the 4 bolts.
4. Disengage the 2 hooks to separate the driver side knee airbag assembly.

  *1 Protective Tape
  
  Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, disconnect the connector.
  
  Note
  
  When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
6. Disengage the 2 claws to remove the driver side knee airbag assembly.
