DESCRIPTION

The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator circuit consists of the center airbag sensor assembly and accessory meter assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator).

DTC B1660/43 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator circuit.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION


    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

  2. CHECK CONNECTORS


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly and accessory meter assembly. Also check that the connectors that link the instrument panel wire, No. 2 instrument panel wire and No. 3 instrument panel wire are properly connected.

      OK
      The connectors are properly connected.

      Tech Tips

      If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly and accessory meter assembly. Also disconnect the connectors that link the instrument panel wire, No. 2 instrument panel wire and No. 3 instrument panel wire.

    5. Check that the terminals of connectors are not damaged.

      OK
      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

  3. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR


    1. A01EIV5

      Connect the connectors that link the instrument panel wire, No. 2 instrument panel wire and No. 3 instrument panel wire.

    2. Connect the connector to the accessory meter assembly.

    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    5. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      OK
      The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator does not come on.

  4. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

      Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor assembly.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    4. Clear the DTCs stored in memory Click here.

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    7. Check for DTCs Click here.

      DTC B1660/43 is not output.

  5. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (OPEN)


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Connect the connectors that link the instrument panel wire, No. 2 instrument panel wire and No. 3 instrument panel wire.

    4. Disconnect the connector from the accessory meter assembly.

    5. Using SST, connect terminals 23 (PAON) and 17 (P-AB) of connector B.

      Note

      Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    2. Using SST, connect terminals 23 (PAON) and 17 (P-AB) of connector B.

      Note
