SFI SYSTEM PRECAUTION


  1. INITIALIZATION

    Note


    • Perform the Registration (VIN registration) when replacing the ECM Click here.

    • Make sure to perform Reset Memory (AT initialization) when replacing the automatic transaxle assembly, engine assembly or ECM (for U760E: Click here, for U760F: Click here.

    • Perform initialization (throttle position) after replacing the throttle body with motor assembly or cleaning any throttle body components Click here.

    • Perform initialization (throttle position) after reconnecting the battery cable or replacing the ECM Click here.

    • When the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal, initialize the following system(s) after the cable is reconnected.

    Tech Tips

    Initialization cannot be completed by only disconnecting and reconnecting the cable of the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. WHEN USING GTS

    CAUTION:

    Observe the following items for safety reasons:


    • Before using the GTS, read the instruction manual.

    • Prevent the GTS cable from being caught on the pedals, shift lever or steering wheel when driving with the GTS connected to the vehicle.

    • When driving the vehicle for testing purposes using the GTS, 2 persons are required. One is for driving the vehicle, and the other operates the GTS.

  3. IGNITION SWITCH EXPRESSIONS

    The type of ignition switch used on this model differs according to the specifications of the vehicle.

    The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.

  4. COOLING FAN SYSTEM

    Note


    • When the ignition switch is turned off and the engine temperature is high, the cooling fans may operate for a maximum of 6 minutes.

    • After turning the ignition switch off, keep hands and objects away from the fans when they are operating.

    Tech Tips


    • If all of the following are met for a certain period of time during a few minutes immediately before the engine is stopped, the electric fans will continue to operate for a maximum of 6 minutes after the engine is stopped. This is performed to ensure restartability and stabilize idle speed.


      • The GTS indicates a very high coolant temperature.

      • The GTS indicates a high outside air temperature.

      • The vehicle has been driven under a high load (driving uphill or equivalent).
